As long as it can be done within your time (cycling both there and back) then there should be no problem.

If it helps, I say yes as well.

Is it definately 5 miles? as that does seem quite a distance to travelled between office by bike, I just been working out some of the duties I have done, and the current one I am doing, and I also ride a bike, is less than 1.6 miles away, the furthest one I ever done, was 1.92 miles, so yes I would demand a lift, as that must take you some time cycling to and back to the office :hmmmm

i was told a while back that the limit was 2 miles ,my walk was just over that but id rather cycle and leave in my own time than fart about with a van driver

If it was 5 mile they would be taking me and bringing me back that is far far too long ,someones taking the pee out of you

That seems a right piss take to me mate  i bet your knackered before you even start your walk :whistle i reckon you should have a van to do that duty,RM have guidlines to distances from the office and what you should use ie trolleys, bikes, vans etc will try and get hold of a copy.
