Re: 10% drop in volume?
Not quite the answer is it ......you stated some time ago the machines had already spare cappacity. So one must now assume they must now be running at say less than 50% efficency ? so how cost effective is that ? if that was a delivery man he'd be on a conduct code

Re: 10% drop in volume?
They've had a sucesful trial (so we're told) in SWDC, of a new machine to seg the mail. Perhaps that's what they're on about, when they talk of new machinery. Or maybe they just haven't got around to trialing the machines for the mail centres.Tman wrote:Wrong "as always"?Wrong as always it is because new machines and later deliveries and earlier collections it is a SHAM OF A SERVICE if you T-MAN wish to defend it on the basis you so say you are as floored as royalmail senior management!.
RM haven't had "new machines" for close on fifteen years now. Southampton MC (which is taking PO's early shift mail) hasn't changed the number of machines either, so where has all this spare capacity suddenly come from?
Any idea, or are you just going to continue in the "floored as royalmail senior management" type of nonsense?
You don't really know what you're on about, do you?

Who knows, what answer you were expecting?axeman"]Not quite the answer is it ....
Define "efficiency" in this context. Missorts? Rejects? Down time? Jam rate? Read rate? What? They've had spare capacity since the volumes tailed off......you stated some time ago the machines had already spare cappacity. So one must now assume they must now be running at say less than 50% efficency ?
It's not cost-effective at all. Unhappily for many RM staff, RM have noticed it too, and implemented plans to close and amalgamate MCs for better or worse, as you may have noticed.so how cost effective is that ?
That's a lame and inaccurate analogy.if that was a delivery man he'd be on a conduct code
So, how does any of this refute the "10% drop in volume" question?

Come on guys. There's no need to let this descend into personal attacks. You both have differing views, and your both entitled to them. But please restrict your arguments to the point of view, and not the person expressing it.
Thanks.

One of our DOMs said the amount of mail coming into the office seemed much higher than the figures from the MC said we were getting, he asked for them to be checked, so they moved him. So if even the DOM don't believe MC figures why should we.

Something similar happened in my office, one of the ADOMs kept querying the figures coming in and was told by the area manager not to query anything anymorejanitor wrote:One of our DOMs said the amount of mail coming into the office seemed much higher than the figures from the MC said we were getting, he asked for them to be checked, so they moved him. Re: 10% drop in volume?
Tman I have on rare occasion seen TNT vans in our office delivering mail, so i wouldn't be so sure about your assersion "that it has nothing to do with DSA!"Tman wrote:Really? There's a poster on here called "Pompeyboy" and supposing he actually works at POMC, ask him what's happened to the Early processing shift there. Nothing to do with DSA either. There is no decline in the amount of letters that are delivered! its just worth less because of the stupid DSA that was forced on us, no natural market forces are to blame for this f***ing mess!
So why do you DO posties keep making the same statement about volumes when you're not in possession of enough data to make an accurate judgement?
"Because my walk takes just as long" is no reply.
Still, I suppose we need another "volumes" thread as it must be at least three weeks since the last one ended....

"Nothing to do with DSA" with regard to the common claim on here that mail volumes aren't dropping, it's just DSA is increasing.
False, of course, because DSA is still processed through RM automation and counted in the daily totals just like any other item of mail.

you kinda ignored my point, the stuff that arrives at our office via TNT vans, has that been through RM automation?Tman wrote:"Nothing to do with DSA" with regard to the common claim on here that mail volumes aren't dropping, it's just DSA is increasing.
