requesting holidays

Post by not me »

right not too much details incase anyones reading

i have 1 week outstanding from last years summer holidays
i have 1 week outstanding from the winter holidays
i have 3 weeks from this summer which are booked and i will get no problems this summer

however im struggling to get my other 2 weeks back
regardless of putting in requests both verbal and written im always knocked back as theres not enough staff
if i dont get time before my 3 weeks this year then thats a year between holidays

so what are my options here? keep putting in requests or is there some way i can 'force' the issue?
TBH i just want those holidays used up as the longer it goes the more likely they disappear :so there

If they won't allow you to take the leave, they have to either allow you to carry ALL of it over,or pay you for them. It's only if you don't bother to book them in time, that you loose any leave.

or, get aff on the sick, that`l teach em.
Now Id say its your duty to take 2 weeks sick every year.
Something id never ever done afore, but the way its going, the way they are treating you, do it.

As for anyone who "buys" week /s holidays from royal mail- :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

Why slag someone who buys 2 weeks ?? Dont get it .

What it comes across is .......... you take 2 weeks off on sick regardless of your health and thats you getting 2 weeks free ??

The flood gates will be open soon i think ......... unless most ppl do that . We will see .

Why - if we a you say throw 2 weeks sickie a year and you buy 2 weeks then thats 8 weeks off. BTW not condoning that as people taking sickies when they are not is one of the reasons RM harrass those that are genuinely sick.

some info on taking holidays

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/ ... G_10034711" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Royal mail must give you the option to take them, they cannot insist that you dont get your statutory minimum rights, they can ask you to carry it forward to the next year but you dont have to if you dont want to

So long as you give him reasonable notice for you to have your leave then he can't use the 'operational needs' trick you have only need to give him 24hrs for a day off but it's wiser to give him a little more for a week leave
