Dont know if anyone can help with this but here goes
in our office if a walk is being done on overtime the 2 people doing it are taken off the IPS so 1 can throw there own walk off whilst the other is throwing the overtime walk off....then they switch so the 1 who was throwing the overtime walk off can do his own walk and the other 1 continues to throw off the overtime
for this they get 3.5 hours for doing the prep and delivery....surely this cant be right as those who are left on the IPS have to do the work of these 2 (or even more depending on how many walks are on overtime)
so essentialy they are getting paid for overtime in the normal duty time and we are doing there work for them
shouldnt it be that they do the IPS prep there own walks then do the prep of the overtime duty as it was in the days before single daily delivery
our union rep says that this practice is allowed as it was agreed by the CWU and management but he cant seem to produce any documentation to clarify the matter
whislt im not against people earning extra money doing overtime i dont see why i should have to work harder on the IPS so they can prep there own duty and the overtime and be finished early

Re: overtime clarification needed
If I understand it correctly this can be done if you have accepted lapsing people can be taken off IPS to prep lapsed rounds thats probably how they get round it anyway. Sounds like their using Ghost Overtime and lapsing at the same time which I am unsure about.

Re: overtime clarification needed
we havnt started any lapsing at all yet...that comes in on the 27th of july so that will mean more people off the IPS and so far 3 members of staff have been told there contracts are up and will be only offered 25 hours if they wish to renew them....also a further 5 will be give the same deal within the next couple of months
we are told by our rep that for each walk lapsed, covered by someone on 25 hours or on docket that 2 people will be taken off the IPS
so on a good day we could have (assuming no walks are on docket) 8 walks covered by posties on 25 hours and the 1 lapsed duty there will be 16 people less on IPS. add a couple of walks on docket and there will be more people throwing walks off than there will be sorting
cant wait

Re: overtime clarification needed
If lapsing has been accepted in your office,(Phase 3 of Pay & Modernisation).
A two week in advance rota to be put up so people know what they are doing and when
All walks to participate, that includes rest day covers and floaters.
Weekly resourcing to be done two weeks in advance with your rep and royal mail.
The extra work,(that is the people off the IPS and the walk taken out) should not impact on your 3 and a half hour delivery span.
This means you do not have to work over your contracted hours. It is only 30 minutes per day voluntarily. The extra 30 minutes has to be given back with a week.Basically I would advise members a simple calculation.."The quicker you are the more you do"
Only take out the extra street at the end of your duty and not with your walk.
I think the one thing we have'nt been told is "Job And Finish Is Over"
Looks like those who come in early, use their cars and no meal relief will be doing the extra work. You need to return to the office 10-15 minutes before your duty time. That means showing that you are working your 8 hours.There-fore you cannot do the extra street etc.

Re: overtime clarification needed
ghosting isnt allowed.
If theyre claiming overtime for work performed in their standard duty time then complain to your DOM and if that produces nothing go to your rep or area rep.
Ghosting isnt allowed. This is what Crozeigheil is banging on about to the press about at the mo.

Re: overtime clarification needed
our Dom and rep know its going on and seem not to care....the Dom is getting USO and the reps more than happy to see people getting the docket (his deputy is 1 of the main people who does any docket)
as for the 1 walk the Dom wants lapsed it has been agreed by him and the rep that all walking postmen and drivers will lapse the walk between them which means between 8 and 12 delivery points each and the walk in qusetion is right outside the D.O and the furthest point away is only about 6 or 7 minutes to cycle to

Same at our office only were getting 40 mins work at around 8:20am which means some people arent getting out on time as our break is at 9:10am.hooniebagoonie wrote: as for the 1 walk the Dom wants lapsed it has been agreed by him and the rep that all walking postmen and drivers will lapse the walk between them which means between 8 and 12 delivery points each and the walk in qusetion is right outside the D.O and the furthest point away is only about 6 or 7 minutes to cycle to
The DOM waits for the 'lapsers' who claim OT because of this at the sign off sheets and personally interrogates them as to why they claimed. Could this be interpreted as Bullying and harrasment?

You should all walk off the sorting when they do,this is soooo wrong.
At our place,if you're doing docket you still do the ips,and the drivers don't wait for them if they're not ready either.
