What's happening in your office?

Post by POSTMAN »

Any chance as many as you can let us know what has happened in your office, what exec act you've had,and how it's affecting things,i've got a few bits from the threads but i need more.
I'm in the Kent area, and unfortunately my rep won't be organising any balloon release as a protest, he'll be in a meeting with the reps from the 2 neighbouring offices trying to prevent RM removing HALF the full time positions from our offices and replacing them with part time and wait for it, the all new Zero Hour Contract. Seriously, in my office alone they want to bring in 20 casuals on a daily basis. They will leave 37 full time staff.

My area wants to reduce Full Time down to 24 hours, not 34 not 30 but 24 ! its not livable, the buy downs will not make up the loss of future earnings.

7 weeks ago we were clearing our office every day, they pushed ahead with they're changes and took executive action and implemented the revision, now we have walks cutting off at 10.30 just so they can get out and complete they're delivery, even then some walks are bring back 2-3 auto levels of work a day, and I'm talking about well known streets such as Regent St and Harley st in Westminster.

We've had ours done a few months ago, we still have a number of walks that CAN'T be done in the time, even the runners can't do them, we've had duties put back in, but we still have deliveries cutting off, or booking a shed load of OT, because the duties can't be done, and that is with people
not taking breaks, taking their own cars, and of course running around. Our sick leave is on the up, we have people off with depression and stress.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

My DO is so large its broken into 6 sections on 3 floors we used to pick the odd day based on just our section. Recently the Managers decided they had to do it office wide and since then loads of requests (not sure on numbers just the feeling I get) have been turned down. Lads not happy as they are just being told "No" with no explanation.

But as you know,if it's within the leave spread it should be sanctioned.
