Yes I know how you feel, cos I went to church once and before Dgp I was as normal as they come, practically - I'd never heard of half those things
Oh it wasn't RM I've always been practically normal.
It's reached us now. There's some of my more high risk Collegues, who're getting quite frightened by it. I can't say that I Blame them. Surely people who are at high risk from Swine Flu, should be sent Home as a precaution, shouldn't they?
Whatever happened to the "duty of care"?

Really! The concern over swine flu is totally out of proportion to the threat - the absolute worst thing that can happen is that you can die - and we're all going to die but I don't think we're all doomed because of swine flu - there's probably people out there walking around with it right this very minute and haven't given it a second thought - so if you wake up tomorrow morning you're OK, the time to start worrying is when you don't wake up.

Rumour mill I think - the government would have no input on personnel policy within RM they would leave that up to management. I doubt if they even know that RM operate a staged absence procedure.

I read this too. Highly unlikely IMO that it will ever be implemented, it's just a typical soundbite from a dying government. Even if it is it won't affect RM's sickness policy, they'll say you are allowed two weeks away from work before you get a stage 1 anyway.
Ive heard people saying that if you have swine flu you can take up to 2 weeks off sick without a doctors note in addition to the 2 weeks you would normaly get for 'standard' illness. This is because the govnt are expecting widespread infection and dont want gp's to be inundated.
Heard Something similar today,that now you can self cert for 2 weeks,wich sounds about right as by next week if you think you have swine flu, you wont need to see a GP just contact a speial help center and you will be given Tami Flu medicine,it has reahed our office at least 2 people .

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
RM will do whatever it wants, they ignore all common sense when it comes to issuing stages. I am on a stage one and I fully intend going into work and breathing, coughing and spluttering on as many of the uncaring tw@s as I can.

We had a WTL last night and were told RM has no policy on swine flu but if it puts you onto a stage 3 they might take it into consideration !!! careing or what considering i have an underlying medical condition with my heart
As I've said before, go in and do what you can (there's no way that anyone suffering flu can complete an entire duty) and if they try to send you home, demand a letter from the area head stating that you won't be penalised for being sent home.
