It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Not sympathy as far as I know they were out on official action - I have heard of no Wildcats going on. The day of action was apparently well supported here just waiting to hear if there were any suspensions.

Postal workers join strike

(UKPA) – 1 hour ago

Hundreds of postal workers in Scotland have joined a national one-day strike in an escalating row over jobs, pay and services.

Royal Mail said 479 people at 11 delivery offices were involved in the walkout in the east of Scotland.

Around 150 collection and delivery drivers were also understood to be taking part in the dispute.

No one in my office knows whats really happening, we where asked if we would support Strike Action about 5 weeks ago and have still to Balloted on strikes. What i don't understand is when we were on strike 2 years ago, Royal Mail took us to Court to get us back to work, because the Economy lost £350m due to our strikes.. So why are Royal Mail & our shareholder the Government risking the threat of Strike Action this time round? What will happen with the Courts again? Heard a rumour that the CWU were looking at the loop-holes of the Legal technicalities so to safe guard our proposed strikes.

Alloa D O took part in the national one day strike on the 17th July two postmen went into work they have now been asked to resign from the CWU as they don't support the majority of CWU members in Alloa D O who took a vote to strike, out of 88 staff in Alloa 86 staff upheld that vote and I would like to personally thank all the CWU members in Alloa for their continued support in these difficult times.
A big thanx to our Anstruther members who supported the national 24hr strike on the 17th July but the members were disappointed when 2 posties from St Andrews who were not on strike decided to work in Anstruther D.O.
I would like to thank all our CWU members in Dunfermline D.O. who once again gave the strike 100% support with the picket line depleted due to the poor weather.
Cowdenbeath D.O. had their usual strong showing on the picket line even with the heavy rain showers. And last but not least thanx to all the Grangemouth members who remain solid.
P.S I will give an update on the rest of the Scotland No2 strike action and any pics when I get them.

Our office is on the outskirts of London but we didnt get ballotted and therefore no strike. You could see the public looking at you like your a strike breaker, it made me feel awkward all day.

We haven't been balloted yet (it will come soon I think) so our delivery guys were asked to do the job properly. A few people took their cars out, but I'd say only 20-30% of the usual number. When I left at 2 pm there were two managers still fussing around the IPS frames so it was a long day for them. :chuckle

Well a had a c*** of a day, must've had 50+ of my punters coming out and asking why i wasn't out on strike today told them it was only the East Coast of Scotland, London n a few other English Offices at the mo.. Finished by my time but was worth it - EVERYONE OF THEM GAVE ME THERE SUPPORT AND TOLD ME THEY WERE 100 % BEHIND ' THE POSTIES ' Just like they did when we were last on strike.

You are correct. In my previous post on this thread I instanced managers staying past their usual time. This is amusing but hardly a threat to RM.

However I don't think there is any wish for an all-out strike from CWU HQ. They know how badly they handled the second half of the 2007 dispute, they know we know, and I suspect they fear that they won't be able to cope this time if (when -- and I think it is when) it escalates.
