linkinpark wrote:Want to know the strange thing? Alls i ever say is this is XXXXXX! In real life it is neither subserviant or adoring because its down to respect of each other and our respective weaknesses! All joking aside its moving over as an issue arises that the other is partner is better able to handle, we will have a chat if time allows but on any given subject one will step aside allowing the other to move forward because they are better equipped with knowledge to make that choice and we suport each other bottom line. It does not always work and we do make mistakes but we dont have recriminations about it we put it down to one of lifes lessons and get on with the life of being together and moving forward. Its called communication, and looking at some friends that have sadly failed together, communication was the major problem and if you can reach an accord with each other about life you can spend your life on the things that matter and that should be each other. Oh and before someone else does it here it is!dvbuk55 wrote:Don't panic. it'll wear off eventually - let me give you a tip, whenever you are out and about and meet colleagues or friends, always introduce her in this manner "Hello - this is xxxxx, my first wife" - does that ever keep them on their toesandy2007 wrote:That's a relief. . But it still dont change my life and i am very happy at home after Twenty years.
Well then we must be doing something right:
Brother 1 52 years
Sister 50 years
Brother 2 46 years
Me 37 years
Brother 3 34 years
And that is over 200 years of wedded bliss between us and never a cross word - no no just kidding, but my gran used to say never let the sun go down on thy wrath and that has always been good advice.

Oh and never let her see you're happy or else she'll want to know whylinkinpark wrote:The best most exciting and hardest times are there for you and Mrs johnnyp. Without wanting to seem like dear whatever the papers call those bits in the paper now, you should both laugh about problems not cry and try to move forward from there, If its not such an issue for you then let it roll and vis-a-vis your partner and you need to talk about this type of thing before it crops up. Communicate as much as you can about personal feelings and beliefs but avoid doing it with beer in you and or your partner at all costs. (We have all spoken and not listened with beer have we not?) I look at XXXXXX whilst she is sleeping somtimes and realise all the good that has come with us together and it kind of chokes me a bit but i still do it even now, so i guess its not taking things for granted too much and i do buy her a bunch of flowers or chocolates once in a while and tell her i love her and XXXXXX does the same for me and its real nice (although i dont get flowers ect my gifts are tailored to my likes, and means as much and does not need to cost the earth because the last flower i gave was a rose from the garden and XXXXXX loved it and my last gift was some black jacks! yums.) If you are as happy as me and her ladyship you will be lucky but like all people we have had bad problems but we got through them by not giving up because we remembered the good times and wanted them back so got over them. Good luck and happiness to you both.johnnyp wrote:3 weeks this Saturday for me and all is still well

I cried at my wedding last year
God knows how, apparently everyone said i would
When i remind she who must be obeyed about it,she says, yeah, but i've been crying ever since

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
