Saturday late finishing

Post by Beforenineoclockgoodone »

I know we have been told when this van sharing caper comes in & mail arriving later because of mail centres closing down that we will be working longer, does anyone actually think we will be working up to 3, 4 or 5 o'clock on a Saturday? I mean it wasn't long ago when RM were saying they will work with staff who have family commitments etc, & now they decide to invade our short weekends even further. The sooner Mon- Fri comes in for me personally the better.

As i have said once before if royalmail make your start times on Saturday later than they were before the pay and modernisation agreement of 2007 that agreement would be in effect null and void!. As such we would in effect be at war with royalmail as this was the crux of the last dispute!. Let us all hope we don't have to get our marching boots on but i think we will with the dictatorship of the royalmail we all will!. As time has shown we cannot be defeated by the powers of the evil WITHOUT A FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG!.

Dont usually finish until between 2pm & 2:30pm

By the time you have gone home and chilled out for a bit, showered etc, the day is half over.

Mon - Fri cant come too soon for me, i,m sure there would be plenty of willing volunteers for EVR.

A manager asked me to do docket on a sat a few weeks ago,i told him f-off,not on a saturday!!
He said, wtf is so special about saturdays then!

I said they must be f***ing special to you as you f**k off early every one of them!!

Make you laugh dont they!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

the managers want an 8 hour sat and the same duty pattern as mon-fri , we have a national agreement that says we have a shorter sat as unlike the managers most posties have a life and want to enjoy the weekend

No, unlike most mangers, postmen don't get the chance to p*ss off home after 3 hrs on a Saturday ( how many mangers do you see during the indoor work & how many are left when you finish your outdoor work? )
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

I NEVER NEVER see a manager when i get back on a Sat at about 12.15-12.30. They are normally gone just after 10am  Its rare to see any in the week either as they are off about 11.30 -12-00 and i am not back to around 13.20 most days
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

I can't see a Mon to Fri ever happening, because of the USO. But they should be sticking to the agreement, to give you a shorter Saturday.

If the USO is so important why does there seem to be a culture of ignoring the last letter delivery time as per rural 15.00 and urban 14.00?.

I know for a fact that Hybred rounds are being shoved in under "savings" as they get rid of SAs and they not only fail the last letter time but completely screw up the 13.00 specials and make a joke of the 09.00 specials.

I don't think many managers want us to work late saturday.
At our office its a short and we couldn't justify 8 hours. They'd much rather us do longer days in the week and save money by us not being able to claim.
I don't think i've ever finished after 12.30 saturday. But yeah, the manager always seems to have gone by about 11 :)

It's important to the Public. They don't usualy know about the corners being cut. They just know that they expect their letters to arrive 6 days a week. :hmmmm

If a straight five-day working was to come into effect (and i agree with andy i can't see it happening in the short term) it might not necessarily be monday-friday. There is always the option of Tuesday-Saturday working especially given that Saturday's workload is getting heavier and not lighter!
