London to strike again

This afternoon we served Royal Mail with further strike action for next Friday. Plus in South West London and West London they will be taking additional action on Saturday and Tuesday in Delivery offices

On thre 17th we are going to have a march and rally at Central Hall. We meet with the Police at Scotland Yard on Monday so will post the details after this. But all postal workers and supporters are welcome.

The 3 day strike was solid and well supported. However we are disappointed by some offices outside London who should know better then to do what they did its frankly a disgrace and has no place in this trade union.

Now there are 300 ballots around the country some which are log jammed in CWU HQ however that level is still less then half of all offices. My view is some reps and Branch`s are hiding behind the call for a national ballot and simply not doing the work.

Their actions are allowing Royal Mail to attack places like London who have held the National policy and are being attacked like never before. Its time everyone had a close look in the mirror , as this is not about savings or your own office this is now whether you want a union in the future. As it is clear that Royal Mail are out to destroy this union and our strength.

There is no point going for a national ballot unless we have offices in every branch requesting ballots now as a national ballot takes time to orgainse and campaign on.

The challenge to all branch`s and union officials that unless your prepared to do the work and meet the members and get them voting for a ballot and then to deliver a yes vote then they should resign. I have no problems if you do all that and cannot get the members on board however to not even try then that is a disgrace.

I'm with you dingo i'd say my office is about 75% to 25% against a strike to many new starters but i will be on a picket line if it comes, i'm not a rep but i am facing a charge of incitement to cause industrial action BRING IT ON

If i read this right, why is southwest & west london delivery offices out on sat(18th) & tues(21st), but all other offices in london will be working??
have we not learnt from last months strike?? with members down here unhappy bout the mail centres working and delivery offices told to walk out!!
after that fiasco we were told by our area rep that all future walkouts everyone would be out together, like with the rolling strike this week,
so surely the whole of london should be walking out on the 18th & 21st

I beleive west and south west london will be on strike from 9.30 saturday morning and all day tuesday.
This is because of the way RM are imposing revisions in most of the delivery offices in our area.
In my office its been the first week of the revision and its been a nightmare.
Cut offs galore and managers working until 5 or 6 in the evening to do all the cut offs.
That was the highlight of the week! Maybe even the year!

They must think west london is weak,but we will show them how wrong they are next week!

South west London are going out on strike for 4 hours on shift on Friday , 4 hours till end of shift on Saturday and 3 hours on Tuesday , West London doing some thing similar. All other offices including mail centres will be on strike for a whole day on Friday the 17th.

The idea behind the South West strike is to trial a different appoach which will damage Royal Mail for a week but only cost our members 1 days pay or 11 hours.

The strike we have just had ours damaged Royal Mail in a big way they have had to divert work to all parts of the country but cannot do the inward of our mail centres so hardly any work was available this morning and will be flowing in next week and then we are on strike again. Rummour has it that other mail centres around the country will be asked to do a full London break down next week which is unacceptable.

In Rathbone Place W1 we're 3qtrs through a staggered changeover, no one signed for duties so management allocated duties, management were so sure that it would work but have spent the last 5 wks moving spare people from 1 struggling walk to another they just won't admit that they cut to many duties,Frames all wrong, people with years of experience on a certain walk moved to another area, basically there are no more foot deliveries just entire sections go out on vans and people work from the van, but as any one who's been in the centre of London knows parking is a serious problem which means that time is wasted by having to walk back to the van for you're nxt bag. Special Deliveries is another big problem many being delivered after 1pm and were talking in the 100's, Guess they're paying the price for doing it themselves and not having any Union involvement

Yes SE , West End , North , North West and East London are all out on strike action next friday from the start of the early shift for one day.

Everyone was given the option of doing it different but it does mean that you have to get everyone out at 10 and not every office has a rep so some thought it easier to go out on strike from the start of shift rather then 4 hours into the shift.

However if the South West strike action is a success then I am sure others will adopt that tactic in the future.

bullying tactics in my office.
ive been suspended from walking duties even though i wasnt the only one to cut off.
the regular walkman even cut off the next day and im still suspended and confined to indoor duties.

you cant make it up.
