Police warn of scam artists

POLICE are warning Lincolnshire residents to be alert after reports of scam artists impersonating Royal Mail staff.
One Saxilby resident received a phone call from a man purporting to be from the Doncaster Sorting Office, claiming he had a parcel believed to be for them, but with an address distorted by water damage.

He then asked for the villager's bank details to pay a small excess charge.

A similar incident was then reported an hour later, though this time the caller was a woman.

Police warn that under no circumstances would Royal Mail ask for payment over the phone, and urge residents to be cautious and report any similar incidents.

DS Mark Johnson also advised residents never to disclose any personal details, particularly bank details.
