It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Mangers
From WIKIPEDIAWhats a manger?
Mangers are mostly used in livestock raising. They are also used to feed wild animals, e.g., in nature reserves. The word comes from the French manger (meaning "to eat"), or from Latin manducare (meaning "to chew").
"dog in a manger" is a derogatory term referring to someone who keeps others from having or enjoying something that he himself does not want or cannot use.
Doesnt mention anything about propping up yorks or drinking 'free' coffee they have stolen from the machines though....
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Re: Mangers
I have to say that some of the managers at my place are ok and 1 is even pretty good, its a pity they are let down by the others and their own managers as well.lekker wrote:you sure you are working in Royal Mail ?hooniebagoonie wrote:must say ours are quite good...i know they are acting from orders from above over lapsing and budget targets but they dont pressurise anyone to do overtime for free if thet are going to struggle to complete there duty....there approachable if you have problems....good at sorting out annual leave or days off for hospital appointments etc

Re: Mangers
RM doesn't attract them but in any other business they'd be out on their arses in short order.IPS wrote:It's like everything in life, good and bad but Royal Mail do seem to attract a certain type of arsehole...
At the peak a few months ago we'd 4 managers for just 45 staff and that's not including the extra managers sent in to help out (at least one of them has been suspended over irregularities in test letters

Re: Mangers
I prefer to think of managers as a Postman Lower Grade, they talk the talk, but they just ain't capable of walking the walk!!
They don't have any self respect and just rely on they're yes sir, no sir groveling to get them promoted rather than relying on they're operational capabilities.
