Well said and a few good tips for us all in the future as well.dvbuk55 wrote:I appreciate what you are saying but age gives me advantages that younger people don't have, however, I worked through the 70s and 80s when all the things you point out I had and still went on strike - you see the advantages of those days was a strike was a strike not an hour here and there or a day or half day once a week - we went out and stayed out - and how did I manage with two children, a mortgage etc - well - odd jobs, bit of pointing, bit of driving, replace a window, tidy a garden, pick vegetables - you see my life is easy now but hasn't always been so - but I never lost my sense of humour - my father always used to say "whats the worst that can happen to you - die! everything else you pick yourself up and start again". At the end of the day you cannot pay what you haven't got. As a matter of interest I'd swap the years I have for the problems you will face.randompostman wrote:No but the question was about paying bills and the lack of help if a strike is called my post was about trying to help them to help themselves because the union state or mortgage company wont and losing the roof over our heads is a major headache for most of us if we go on strike not about someone that is lucky enough not to have those worries but offer no help and advice to those that do. If people are about to lose their house or be cut off can we really expect them not to go back to work? In any ia we need to be prepaired before the hard times start not wait till they are here and lose the ia by default and a slush fund of 2 months or more to pay all bills would give us a headstart on our employer or for any other important thing whilst having nothing but debt at the start means we stay slaves to the machine.

The union folded during the last dispute, despite having strong support from the members.

I agree. Even though I'll be backing the union I have no confidence in the leadership after their abysmal handling of the last official I.A. and I fear the usual pathetic climbdown.

Re: IMPORTANT:Time to fight and not give in
we need to all stick together, it is just unfinished business from the last strike.
Lets hope we get the outcome this time we should have got last time.
