strike confusion

Post by Jack Spratt »

Hi
Yet another MDEC keyer here from the early shift. Can anyone enlighten me as to what exactly Royal Mail's business plan entails? We are being asked to strike yet I feel that I do not have enough information with which to make that decision! I spoke to my father about it this morning and he said that if your union asks you to strike you should support them. javascript:emoticon('')

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Welcome Jack - Royal Mails business plan at the moment appears to be

1. Not pay MDECs same as the rest of us Posties.
2. Remove Night shifts in every delivery office.
3. Absorb 6 walks into 5 with no extra pay.
4. Remove D2D payments but increase the amount we deliver (this has been taken out of the pay negotiations but will come back at some point)
5. Later starts for DOs (loss of allowances)
6 Earlier last collections from some Post Boxes (9am in some cases)
7. Less collections on Sundays and Bank Holidays (removing them completely from some)
8. Closing Post Offices so customers have to travel further.
9. Moving Post Offices to WHSmiths without adequate consultation.
10. Ability to move you from your normal place of work to another without prior warning on a day by day basis.
11. When a F/T leaves not filling the post but letting it lapse to P/T.
12. Cutting staff back before brining in the all dancing singing sequencing machines

These are just from the top of my head others will add to it I'm sure.

Apart from the above reasons management also want to push through other things without negotiaton, eg changes to the attendance procedure - word is that they do not want to pay us for the first three days of any period of sickness.
Leighton & Crozier want to sideline the Union (Our representatives) and just do as they want.
Welcome!
