Re: Stressed and depressed
I have noticed that, it depends where you are, I remember the Diffcult to Recruit Area Suppliment (DRAS) dispute in 1988 down South and London area due to the high cost of living and preference for higher paid Yuppie jobs and even cleaners were on better money.krussel wrote:Very true and a sad factaxeman wrote:Iv'e said it many many times when jobs were abundant royal fail struggled to fill any job. says it all really![]()
I only stuck it out as it was a secure job, according to the recruitment blurb in 1988 and it guaranteed I can get a Mortgage with the Building society, the money wasn't brilliant but the town I was in was blighted by high unemployment, I did try to get a different job a few times, didn't get anywhere, so just stuck it out here, at least I am getting money coming every week.
I get my validation outside of work through my Hobbies, friends and family.

Re: Stressed and depressed
I know exactly what you are feeling at the moment, I went through it last year. Working in Callers taking constant abuse and complaints from customers about RM, managers refusing to answer the phone if there was a problem, it just too much and in the end I wanted to walk in front of a bus. I knew there was a problem and got myself off to the dr's, it took me a month to get myself feeling right enough to return to work and asked to be moved out of the Callers Office and back on to delivery. Now a year later I feel it was the best thing I ever done, I try to stay away from the Callers Office and keep my head down regarding management, therefore taking myself away from the problem.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

Re: Stressed and depressed
I was putting in a lot of overtime whilst going through a pretty bad patch and did some late shifts in the callers office.k66yla wrote:I know exactly what you are feeling at the moment, I went through it last year. One late afternoon/early evening this women came in asking for a passport application form. I explained that she would need to go next door to the main post office but they were now closed. She asked if i would get her one and i politely explained that i was unable as it was a seperate building and was now alarmed.
She just flipped
He then took over and told me to take 5 mins and get a coffee. I just went and sat in the loo and found i was actually shaking and really close to tears, i could not believe it
Anyway i finished the shift ok but i never forgot that day as it how things can get on top of you when your not at your best.

She just flippedno warning and started shouting abuse and swearing at the top of her voice, even punched the screen glass once
. Now it takes a lot to shock me but it really did get to me
. My mate had to show her the door whilst still shouting and threatening all sorts !!!!.
He then took over and told me to take 5 mins and get a coffee. I just went and sat in the loo and found i was actually shaking and really close to tears, i could not believe ita man in my mid 30's and reduced to that.
Anyway i finished the shift ok but i never forgot that day as it how things can get on top of you when your not at your best.
i had a woman try and hit me with the 'our staff are not here to be abused.." sign

Your manager can do a referral to ATOS, by asking the question in the referral "Is the employee suitable for the Stress RehabWorks programme?disgruntledpostie1 wrote:ATOS wont do anything unless you're off sick and then the only thing they want is to get you back to work as quickly as possible. Best advice is to go to your GP and start from there.drb wrote:See your line manager or rep immediately and get a referral for Atos
You can always use this site http://www.livinglifetothefull.com/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I know it helped me.
I've just been through it, and it has been extremely helpful, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.
Now just need to wait to see if the Appeals Manager reverses the management decision to sack me....
