you're right of course and sadly I know that is the interpretation RM will take. I imagine they'll use the "well you do overtime and that takes you over the 3.5 hours" argument. The national agreement does say 3.5 hours is the maximum amount of delivery span. What it doesn't say is whether this is per delivery. RM of course maintain it is. As the rest of the country is doing outdoor absorption I'm fairly sure I'll lose this disagreement but it seems worth highlighting. Part of the reason for the London strike I'm involved in is that we should be getting rewarded, as the managers are, for this saving. I know what phase 3 says but If they can find money (starting at 10% of salary) for managers to do the same amount of work (less really because of the reduced number of postmen following cuts) then they can find something for us. They also want to take away PBS and d2d payments(arguing they are already done in normal workload in time)....dark times ahead....

Got this in our office and done it non stop all year

Heres how it works if it hasn't been told in here already

There are about 4 walks currently split into about 8 or 10 splits... Roughly 60-70 houses a piece they seem to be.

You take it in turns rotating so you do Mon/Wed/Fri and someone else Tues/Thur/Sat

Instead of finishing IPS off you get out as soon as you've prepped up and deliver these splits before your proper duty.

The deal is it's to allow more people time off this time of the year when in reality it's 4 duties covered for free!

yep, pretty much the proposal in my office. Understood (apart from the bit about going out before IPS finished). I've accepted the indoor element but will be resisting any outdoor absorption. It's clearly prevalent in other offices but we all know when absorption is introduced "for summer only" it'll be kept for good :(. Can I ask how long you're out on delivery including absorption and your own walk? thanks...........

We don't go before IPS is done, We just don't do it when on lapsing whilst the other half have to do twice as much as a result.

Just means those on lapsing are constantly walking around emptying the IPS fittings.

Lapsing on average would take 15mins-20mins... Can be anything between 1 bundle or 5 depending on how busy it is obviously

So add that to your usual walk (3hours 30mins)

Only odd thing is those lapsing seem to get out an hour earlier... So out an earlier than the rest for 15mins work. Slightly unbalanced.

This Summer lapsing is just a joke to me, my delivery time outdoors is 4 hrs, i deliver to the large firms, i have had my start time moved from 5 to 6.15, without notice i may add, so if i'm not out by 9.30 i really am pushed, bearing in mind i have two 9 'o' clockers its hard going, but i refuse to race for anyone, i do a few bag drops also which means going back and forth to the office which all takes time. I work till 1.30 each and every day without fail. The very next day i am hauled in to the office and asked why i have'nt done any packets or lapsing etc, i am like "are you kidding me".
While some folk in the office, as has been said here already, race around and do the lapsing and home by 12. i just don't get it!!
I do feel harrassed totally, not sure if it is because i am only lass in office, as it's only me that ever gets told off for doing the same things the blokes do. I am seriously thinking of putting in complaint, because it is every day.
It is a really up and coming business area, in the last week alone 3 new calls so at this rate 12 new calls each month etc,
Is lapsing compulsary? Where do i stand?
