Its not just london that are out on strike. It was up here in scotland that we kicked off the strikes, Alloa, Dunfermline, Cowdenbeath and Grangemouth. I see your point, that the union needs to press ahead with a national strike. This will make it a stronger solid strike as a whole and will make royal mail think twice before any more cost cutting. So come on union we need your support nationally, and soon.

Union Headquarters need to do more to publicise what Royal Mails changes will mean to the service the public gets, so far we've gone from doing 2 deliveries before 2pm to numerous offices being unable to complete 1 delivery in the allotted time and with more job cuts this service will get worse, it's about time the public and press knew what Croziers agenda really is!

This has to be said loud and clear.
A strike breaker is a SCAB. Despite what the New Labour Luvvies might proclaim this is now a generic term which has been used by union activists for decades. If anyone crosses a picket line then vent your spleen when we return to normal working by ostracising that person as the SCAB he or she is.

Glad I got that out of my system!!

:chuckle :chuckle :chuckle but a note of caution, if people go out of their way to ignore or ostracize 'strike breakers' then RM will try to use the B&H procedure to try to get rid of them  .

Strike Breakers, and the future.

Post by andy2007 »

I know that at a time like this, it might sound crazy. But please read my whole post, before dismissing my views as stupid.

I have believed for a long time, that being aggressive, or ignoring strike breakers (in the correct sense of the word). While feeling satisfying at the time. Will ultimately backfire on us. Why?

Because if they feel alienated, they're less likley to change their minds, and support us in the future. I've seen people grow a spine, and get a concience, after starting off as Strike Breakers. And they've gone on to join in future Strikes. I strongly believe that the best way to stop people crossing the Picket Lines, is to convince them that they're doing the wrong thing. And that they should stand with their Collegues, for the benefit of ALL. Not just us, not just them, but EVERYONE. :hmmmm

Yes, I know that they often don't listen. Particularly at the time. And there are some, who will never understand just how wrong it is to betray your Collegues, by undermining IA. But sometimes you can get successes. Surely, every individual we can convince, is a step in the right direction, isn't it? :hmmmm

Brother DGP is quite right and the best policy whilst picketing is to pure and simply act within the law no more no less. Many will recall the actions and false accusations by Royal Mail placed against 2 of the Birmingham 3 whilst they were picketing peacefully on their picketline.

Anyone got a list of what depots are on strike and why?

Had a woman ask me today if I was going on strike and it's the first I heard of the matter. 17 people losing jobs at Derby office I hear due to walk sequencing machines!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
