no, that's the wrong way at looking it, things can happen in everyday life. crap happens i agree, but you are looking at it from the wrong angle.

things that happen outside royal mail are outside of royal mail. and keep these seperate. most things that do happen are usually covered one way or the other whether through private insurance and liability or full business insurance and liability. or even public liablity insurance.

no other industry has the bizarre ways of royal mail. use of private cars is playing russian roulette, which is tantamount in putting the public at peril.
royal mail will turn their backs when the sh#t hits the fan. they are all for it coaxing people to use their cars to save cash. i don't wish the worse on anyone but they will desert you. and they would not even bat an eyelid.

private cars is a gamble, no other word for it. and probably they are gambling their families future. what good would you be to your family when your in prison because your manager asked you to use your car and some accident occured and you find out you are not insured just when you thought you were. that is the harsh fact. the least a person will get is being prosecuted for having no insurance just as the manager swears that the driver is covered.

tax breaks are offset against the higher insurance costs.. i wouldn't like to be the person who is taken to court by businesses who will sue you if in the event you lost their mail and the loss resulted those people in losing contracts.. you will never know what is in the mail someone is lost. it won't be rpyal mail that will be taken to court, it wil be the driver. so pray that you are covered for theft of belongings at least a couple of million.. or is it, oh don't tell me all the car users are only limited to £10,000 belongings liability?

i'm not sure what is worse. a joyrider with no insurance or using cars for rm?

people say it is a benefit to use their cars to prevent hanging around waiting to be picked up, unreliable buses and so on. that's rm's job to convey and pick up

the only other parts i pick up from, it is evident that the workers who do use their cars, do not give a sh#t about their fellow workers and the public.
and here comes avi cohen! oh i say! at the same end, he's got one back!!

Oh ok :confused . Back when i used my car it was normally the waiting around for your 2nd bag to be dropped off which cost you all the time and by using your car you could insure that you did not stand around for half an hour, sometimes in the rain

Thing is calpsy if you use the drivers to drop off your bags and you only drive to the start of your delivery and then leave your Jeep there for the whole delivery how do you get finished any earlier by using it ? :confused The only advantage i can see is that you would not have to ride a bike to the delivery itself. Is it something about not riding a post office bike. I am just curious really :Very Happy
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

So you cant decide who is worse ?? A joyrider or a rm worker who drives his car ??

Even the name callers who try to harrass me here will be laughing at that comment . What a joke . :left:

Yeah and we dont care about anyone apart from ourselves . Another great point . Well said :left:

Keep em coming john . You should be on stage . :left:

I heard of a guy in another DO who had an accident on his car whilst driving to his duty.

He crashed into someone and caused a huge amount of damage to both cars.
The police informed him that he wouldnt be able to claim for insurance on his own car as he didnt have proper insurance to allow him to use his vehicle to the start of his delivery.

The sad bit is he cant afford to have his car repaired and he has a couple of kids and another on the way any day now. He cant get his kids to relatives to look after them and no other family member is available to help him with their car (they have work too, yes?)
He will have to rely on lifts to and from the hospital from other people now.

Why would anyone take the risk?? seriously?

i.m glad someone thinks having no insurance is funny.. cos i don't and i'm not here to entertain.

2 scenarios. if i was riding a bike, minding my own business, a joyrider crashes into me, driver got no insurance, crippled for life. no money.

if i was riding a bike minding my own business, a postoffice worker crashes into me, driver got no insurance, crippled for life. no money.

what's the difference?

Yes RM will abandon you in need. Guy at our office, his car was hit by a bus RM didn't want to know. Guy will never use his car again and does RM no favours.

You should know the risks if you use your own vehicle. If you get hit you are going to lose out big time, if you hit someone you will face the consequences, obviously.
Regarding cars.. the job is changing and will do big time. I think the use of cars is the future , everyone could be a winner, AS LONG AS insurance criteria is met and those c*nts at the top understood job and finish (and the union for that matter) .
Job and finish is the only way.. if that goes there will be no more Royal mail. Everyone needs to get together and understand this.

I don't agree, Job and Finish is time and motion by stealth, the Managment will observe and take notes, which if they are unscrupulous enough will use it against you, during the introduction of SDD, Job and Finish was encouraged (by Management) then came the accusations of Spanish practice along demands for "Flexible working"

I am afraid only doing the Job properly as per spec is the only way forward,
1 Insurance,
2 no spare hours to utilise against you,
3 you will not have to use your Car,
4 by doing the Job properly you cover yourself against anything goes wrong.
