Lets be honest its an easy job.....But its made hard.

8 hours? we get 31/2 for a walk and 5 if you prep it and 6 on a restday ,unsuprisingly not many takers
Same at my office the 8 hours have now gone down to 5, and you have to prep it.

I do still enjoy my work but i just wish my delivery was only 3 hrs long as the last 40 mins eats into the legs.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

FECKIN HATE IT................The majority of my colleagues are back stabbing b@stards. They come in early, use their cars, run round so they can finish half an hour early and are that thick they don't realise this is the reason we are now getting humped re. lapsing duties and if they can drop you in the s**t they will.(this is not everyone just the selfish thick b@stards. The managers are a bunch of @rse-holes and the retards above them are feckin up what was a good job. As I'm getting close to retirement I don't give a feck about this company.

SO AS YOU CAN GUESS I'M NOT A HAPPY BUNNY     :lfo :cfo :mfo AND ONE THEY DON'T HAVE......f**k OFF ROYAL MAIL.

The people I've worked with over the years have been (99%) fine.

When I'm out on delivery, it can be enjoyable as long as you are not into the arguing about overtime stress scenario.

What I utterly detest about the job is the management lies and bullying. It's un-neccessary, it reduces productivity. Morale? there is none as a consequence of their attitude / policy. When will they learn that macho management does not and never will work in Royal Mail?

The job is fine outdoors. But unfortunately the indoor side of it is shocking  . Colleagues wanting to finish the job as quick as possible by doing the usual, coming in early, taking cars, the list goes on. Spring and summer are great, but the rest of the seasons are rubbish!

Because summer lapsing has started this week, one colleague was arguing this morning with the dom of why she should take the extra bit...but she only has herself to blame for coming into early, because as far as the dom is concerned she had plenty of time to complete the duty and summer lapsing bit. So let that be a lesson to her, but i doubt she will learn from it though.

I'm lucky I really like my job but it helps to be able to put blinkers on and not see the things that could drive you crazy. The one that gets me is magazines or catalogues that are marked 'Urgent' or 'Priority' and sent 2nd, mailsort or DSA. What's that all about?

I havent been paid less than 8 for doing a walk on OT and they are always prepped up aswell. If a DOM from another office offered me 5hours to deliver and prep a walk i'd give him my red bag and tell him to get on his way. Sack that

'A WELL PAID JOB'

Post by opgpat »

Come on people there is a significant difference between enjoying the work and being happy with our working conditions? How can we be happy with our working conditions?

Anyone saying 'this job is well paid for what it is' has been well and truely beaten down by the capitalist system. Brainwashed.

Manual workers really are just the exploited workforce. Just because a job needs 'no skill' should not mean you are paid pennies for it - the work you do earns your bosses many times more. How much MORE work than you does Croziers do each day? Does he do SIXTY times more work than a FT postie? Well that's how much more he takes home.

No manual worker should accept low pay just because that's what everyone else gets. That is a lazy acceptance of innequality.
We should fight for better pay for ALL hard workers.

If we gladly accept the pennies we get while Crozier gets millions then we accept the lies of the capitalist system and will FOREVER be exploited while the rich snigger up their sleeves.

In reply to the initial question, no, I do not like the job, not 1 bit of it. I agree with that with less numpty's breaking the rules, and better managers, the job would be brilliant, just how some of the long servers tell me it used to be.
We live in a world now, that unfortunatly isn't just run by greedy, tight fisted thieving leaders, but now moreso than ever, because of the credit crunch company's know that if you break and give in, there are a few million jobless that would snap your job up, and end up in exactly the same scenario that we are in now.
We are not workers anymore, we are the slaves to be bullied and harassed to feed and pave the way for our highers to get even more greedy and incompetent.
Phew.... vent over, thankyou and goodnight  :Very Happy

I used to enjoy the Job, it all changed with SDD and got worse, I escaped for a while on to Driving, after 5 years I had to go back on delivery due my duty dissappearing, I couldn't believe how bad it is on delivery, which is why I just do the job right and take my time and not be rushed, I don't want to come in early and using my car, I just stick it out because of the cash and thats it really.
