British Airways has asked its 40,000 staff to work without pay for up to a month as the ailing airline seeks to cut costs.

The group, which made a record £401 million loss in 2008 amid surging fuel prices and a collapse in premium-fare passengers, is seeking to reduce costs dramatically and has already offered staff unpaid leave or a reduction in hours.

Reading down the comments it would seem Willie Walsh ruined Air Lingus before coming to BA to ruin it so it's only a matter of time before he's in charge of us

McCarthy ex of BAE ( the " magic " circle ? ) , his sister also still does or did work for them ( RM ) , however nepotism is nothing new with RM - that's why many of those places thrive on their own corruption .

It's " interesting " that many of the RM board had to " persue other careers " after the 2007 dispute and there was a few vendettas against strong well organized places by pro privatization senior management .

Millidge wants fragmentization , staff and places on different bonus based contracts to sideline / neutralize the union .

just like my "RM going to hell on a handcart" thread something had to change fast and for the better otherwise the Business might so damaged that it cannot recover lost Customers, reputation and ultimately our Jobs.
