Re: summer savings duties
Just had our revision so can not see them trying summer savings this year but DOM is on about next year already. They have no idea how hard this job has become. If you tell the DOM you can't complete he looks at you as if you are from outer space.

Re: summer savings duties
Same in our office, last year around 10mins work 15mins in total counting conveyance time. This year its more like 20mins work then your 5mins convey time.Gene Hunt wrote:We have already started ours 1st june.. What has annoyed me this year is that the waysiders (22.5hr contracts) did the work last year, but are getting away scot free this year. We all agreed to the summer lapsing last year and all got a small bonus pro rata. So why is it one rule for one person and one rule for another within the office.

Re: summer savings duties
The money you got last year was for agreeing phase 2 flex before deadline summer savings was only 1 enabler for this.cow post wrote:Same in our office, last year around 10mins work 15mins in total counting conveyance time. btw if your office hadn't agreed phase 2 before the deadline you would still be doing it, (as it had all been agreed in principle nationally) you just wouldn't have been paid £400.

Re: summer savings duties
correct me if i'm wrong but the summer absorbtion is supposed to utilise spare indoor hours, therefore the waysiders as you call them should not be absorbing anything as their hours are supposed to me outdoor hours with a short prep time before they leave the office, if every part timer started pointing this out, it would have a double knock on effect, as there would be more work for the full timers to absorb meaning that there is either going to be an increase in OT or Cuttoffs, which would piss the dims and area managers off as their office costs would start to go through the roofcow post wrote:Gene Hunt wrote: What has annoyed me this year is that the waysiders (22.5hr contracts) did the work last year, but are getting away scot free this year. Re: summer savings duties
So whats different from this year to last? They managed the work load last year, so in principle it should be completed, regardless if your contract is full time or part. As long as they have the time, and this includes myself, i will try to fit in any summer lapsing along side my duty.zx135 wrote:correct me if i'm wrong but the summer absorbtion is supposed to utilise spare indoor hours, therefore the waysiders as you call them should not be absorbing anything as their hours are supposed to me outdoor hours with a short prep time before they leave the office, if every part timer started pointing this out, it would have a double knock on effect, as there would be more work for the full timers to absorb meaning that there is either going to be an increase in OT or Cuttoffs, which would piss the dims and area managers off as their office costs would start to go through the roofcow post wrote:Gene Hunt wrote: What has annoyed me this year is that the waysiders (22.5hr contracts) did the work last year, but are getting away scot free this year. Now it may seem in my last post that i am having a dig at my colleagues for having a shorter contract, so they must do the same work as everyone else, thus is not true. The point i am trying to make here is, if they have some scope to do summer lapsing, then it should be done.

Re: summer savings duties
But did they have time to spare or did they cut off last year or work overtime. It may be that the DOM considered it was costing too much in hours to get the waysiders to do it as part of their duty so now leaves it to the rest.

Re: summer savings duties
they should not have done it last year, they were silly for doing it, it was not part of the agreement, as i said the agreement(as far i as i know) was for the absorbtion to come from indoor hours not outdoor ones, and the part timers dont have any indoor hours in which to absorb anything, if you suggesting that outdoor hours should be used to absorb, then thats a can of worms that you dont want to open as we would be getting extra work left right and centrecow post wrote:So whats different from this year to last? Re: summer savings duties
It was agreed by both the union and RM for summer lapsing last year. What's different this year is that we are not meant to be doing any summer efficiency because this has not been agreed by both parties. RM are doing what the hell they like and this is one of the reasons why we will be going on strike this sat, with other offices following suit!
