Re: See what happens!
it is possible the odd letter can slip out unoticed and drop down. Random searches are always strictly adhered to routine. It would be very unusual to have something planted, to have something planted would mean some item from the same batch, post codes and dates. Unless there was a backlog and that 'extra' item had been picked to coincide with the up to date batch. Even for a genuine little error seems excessive to have 3 managers searching. Could have been a routine trading standards test letter that accidentaly fallen down. Best to have mail placed inside a plastic box
and here comes avi cohen! oh i say! at the same end, he's got one back!!

Re: See what happens!
After bundling, put the bundles inside a plastic box. Those carry trays. It's all to easy for something to drop down without realising. Goodness knows how many times something slipped down the back and couldn't find it even though i knew it had fallen down, and when i look for it, cannot find it. Coins, lighters usually lol. They turn up after a week when cleaning

Re: See what happens!
You imply that there might be no alternative to using a car, but what about using a trolley or more lighter bags dropped off or applying for a van duty ?Oh no its raining wrote:Are the fellow members going to walk out in protest?
Me personally I would, in the view that it would protect us more and make RM supply us with enough company vehicles to meet any demand for them. Its my opinion, nobody has to agree but I see people that use their own cars as the ones that maybe cant or dont want to cope with working under the terrible conditions that we are ALL faced with.
If I may use an example, take 2 people, 1 can cope and fight back when under extreme stress, the other hits the booze and inevitebally becomes an indinial alcoholic who avoids everything life throws at them.
I dont mean to start any arguments so dont, its just how I personally look at people using cars against the rules in RM.
It has been said often on here - DON'T use your car for deliveries.

I think he was referring to the pressure put on people to use their cars. Some can take that kind of pressure. Others can't.

We still seem to have people on here who think THEY can tell others what to do .
We will continue to use our cars if we feel the need .
STOP telling us what to do .

I drive a jeep with a large boot and the back seats go flat quite fast so i reckon i will have enough space .SovietOnion73 wrote:Its for the long term protection of jobs that we are advising you ( not telling you what to do ) not to use your car.So if you dont want to protect your own job and others in the business carry on doing the job as you are and soon there wont be 180,000 employees working for royal mail it will be below 150,000.Then lets see with bigger walks and more work to do you fit all the mail into the back of your car (you wont be able to ). Its so simple the point we are trying to get across thats its boardering on insanity ..
AND the last post WAS telling us not to use our cars ... not asking but telling us .

Trouble is its really hard to stop using your car when you have become used to it. I used mine for a few years until i got robbed and my car (worse borrowed car) got badly damaged. I used to worry at MOT times as to what i would do if my car failed, it was really stupid looking back. Changing to a bike and having to wait for bag drops was tough and prob put at least an hour on my day but was worth it knowing my car was safe at home. Calpsy (i am not having a dig, ok) be carefull leaving ANY mail on show in the back of your Jeep as they sacked a guy who lost the mail in a break in because he had dropped his rear seats and the mail was on show.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Re: See what happens!
Quite frankly: If it wasn't for the fact that Managers often use the fact that some CHOOSE to use their cars on deliveries, to try to pressurise others to do the same. I for one, would only be trying to suggest, that people stop using them.calpsy wrote:yes you are right to some extent . You're right, that we don't have any authority to tell you not to use them. But we can, and do, try to convince you of the harm you're doing to your Collegues. By giving your Managers the leverage they need, to force others to do the same. I know that you have done everything properly. But not everyone else can.
For example: If they follow procedure, but don't take out their own Fully Comprehensive Business Insurance, and their car is broken into, or stolen. They won't get a penny back. So they'll have no car, and could even be left with outstanding payments, for a car they no-longer have. Plus: What do they do, until they can afford a replacement?
Then there's the risk assessments: Does everyone know how to check if their make/model of car already has one?
It's no good just asking the Manager: He/she has a vested interest in getting you to use your car. MAKE SURE YOU ACTUALLY SEE A COPY OF THE RISK ASSESSMENT. If there isn't one for your specific Make/Model, and you use your car: The Royal Mail Insurance (well Bond to be precise) is INVALID.
If that happens: Risking 6 Points for driving without insurance, is the least of your worries. If there's an accident YOU WOULD BE PERSONALLY LIABLE FOR THE FULL COST OF ANY REPAIRS AND COMPENSATION CLAIMS IF ANYONE IS HURT!

Re: See what happens!
this is a bit of a dilemna. When other members have been sacked for something, other offices have a walkout or protest. There are plenty of threads mentioning walkouts in support for someone.
To walkout on this issue would be awkward..the anti using car faction can't walk out as it would make them look that they support the use. The pro using a car side will walkout and that will reaffirm the use of a car.. If the anti car users walkout, it would only end up as an anticar protest overtaking the importance of the dismissal. And it looks that the car users won't walk out in support as it would give the impression of double standards, as it's down to tough luck it happened in the first place. And when pro car users are seemed to be doing nothing in support, rm will be rubbing their hands in glee. So a walkout in protest may not be valid as there would be no doubt that a common ground can't be achieved. And if a walkout can't be achieved, then that would be sad as it would look like no support for the member. Lose lose situation.

And by admitting that, you have blown out the water all the argument's you made that using you private car has no effect on the business or your workmatescalpsy wrote:I will give you a laugh .
