What type of customers annoy you most

My apologies for the vulgarity, but the thing that annoys me more than anything else is customers letting their dogs s**t in the street. I've got a pretty reasonable walk, all things considered. Of course, there are some of the minor irritants that have already mentioned, but even so it's far better than a lot of others. Except for one thing. Dog s**t everywhere. And I do mean EVERYWHERE. You would have to see it to believe it.

I'm not talking about the occasional turd. Oh, no, that wouldn't matter. I'm talking about both sides of every street being liberally smeared and befouled with dog s**t. Not in the gutter. On the pavement. And as often as not, directly outside the gates. Different sizes and amounts of s**t. Liquid s**t is the worst. the smell in summer is indescribable.

And I think the worst aspect is that I have to be constantly alert, looking out for s**t, so that I dont stand in it or run the bike through it. I sympathise with the householders who want their gate shutting. If I lived in a shitty area like that, I'd want my gate shutting too.

And get this. There is one address that doesn't let their dog out to s**t in the street. Their dog's toilet is the garden and their gate is always shut. But they never clear it up. NEVER. There is s**t in their garden that's been there all year. I really have to pick my way carefully when walking down the path to the front door. The guy was leaning out of an upstairs window, a couple of months back and he asked me to shut his gate. I asked him to clean his dog s**t up. But he hasn't.

By now, you probably think I'm exaggerating. I'm not.

I have done several walks in my district - which is probably not one of the more well-off ones - and I have never come across what you've experienced. I mean, it sounds horrible. I wonder if yours is just an isolated area. Has it always been this bad, or has it gradually got worse over the years?

I report things on the street to the local council. It can be a bit hit-and-miss with them, but the last thing they did was very good: fixing a group of broken paving slabs: and they did a very neat job, too!

Re the street full of dog turd. I used to work for Scottish & Newcastle and the dreys would refuse to deliver to certain pubs as the owners had dogs that used the yards at the back as a toilet - they sited Health & safety, nothing to do with dogs being lose just the fact there was dog turds there. Might be worth getting your DOM to put a complaint into the local council.

Recently, there was a garden exactly as you have described: I kept returning th mail with the reason, "insanitary conditions" (my relief just used two initials: "D.S." (or "dog s**t", for short)). This went on the letters that were returned to the local council. Someone must have picked-up on this in the council, because after a few weeks of letters going back, a truck from the sanitation department came and cleaned up the yard.

I hate when customers say: if it bills you can keep them, I reply back by saying it not bills it yours

I hate when customers suddenly open the door, when you have a big bundle of mail in your hands

yes that gets on my tits, when you walk past a customers house, and theyt shout "any mail for me today".......... yes ive got mail but your just not getting it!!! isnt it a bit obvious if i dont walk in and hand you or post your letters that theres none!

or when someone stops you and asks for teir mail when tey stay 3 streets away. i tell them im not allowed to give it to them, to get a dirty look in return....ahhh the joys of being a postman.

just the other day, i was out very early, and i must have heard the same phrase 8 or 9 time "early today, muist`ve beenb kicked out the bed"

I also hate when some customers take a hour to answer the door, and than have the cheek to come out and say, you just put this red card in my door, with an odd look on their face,I been in all the time, than why didn't you answer the dammed door you fool

he finally answers in a dressing gown that probably had 2 weeks of breakfast down it . That just made me hate him from the start .

As i satnd there dripping i ask him to sign and print at number 2 . He asks me what he is signing for . I tell him its a letter .

he then says " yeah but who is it from " ? ? ? ?EH ??? " HOW THE F*** AM I MEANT TO KNOW ?? I say " I dont know as ive not had time to open it yet "

Well you shouldve seen the look on his face . It was as if I had eaten some of the food on his dressing gown without asking .

With more experience you'll learn to know what the mail is ie. who's sending it, what it is etc. (it used to be really fun to deliver the speeding tickets, never tell them what it is until they've signed for it, then tell them and spend the rest of the day smiling to yourself ).

I get that too, the one time I did give some elastics, they never said thank you, since then I refuse to bother if they ask without please, "I just tell them I don't keep them"

Just noticed what you put here ........ Had a wee laugh . yeah ive only been in the job a year and a half but I think ive learnt a lot in that time .

Only think i havent been able to work out is PLAIN WHITE ENVELOPES WITH RECORDED STICKERS ON THEM WITH NO RETURN ADDRESS ....... I dont know who is sending those .

I hate in when we have the annual letters from local authorities addressed to mr--OR HOSEHOLDER. 99% of folks will put them back into the system and next day you highlight the housolder part, and ,yes back they come,again, and again!
And even when housholders retain them, they do not fill in and send back, so the process gets repeated, again, and again,
ad infinatum.
