Dear Gordon Brown

Post by Codebreaker »

It will be but a few days until you will be in place as the new Prime Minister.

You will have many things on your mind and many things to deal with and think about.

Your first few days and weeks will be forever in history but more importantly you will be acoountable and scrutinised for the things you do or don't do during the initial period of holding office.

You will have been (effectively) elected by the population. You know you will be accountable to us all.

One of the things you will be looking at and ultimately responsible for is Royal Mail's dispute with its Employees - and their Union.

The OWNER of Royal Mail, in effect, is the Government and when you become Prime Minister you will have the power to decide the future of Royal Mail. I do not believe you should (or would) stand by and let some of your highest paid 'civil servents' create havoc in our 'democracy'.

I think you have but ONE CHOICE in the early days of your leadership. Royal Mail needs to change - but NOT in the heavy-handed way that the CEO and Chairman WILL ENFORCE.

Let's be clear - THEY are EMPOLYED by the Government and (for whatever reason) seem hell-bent on running for a Strike and running Royal Mail into the ground. Please ask yourself why Allan Leighton and Adam Crozier have decided this course of action.

I believe they do this for a purpose. The question is this - DOES THIS PURPOSE SERVE THIS COUNTRY.

THAT is the only question you will need to concentrate on when thinking about the future of Royal Mail and your first days in office as Prime Minister.

Thanks guys for your comments.

I have sent my original post, via email, with a covering note to the Prime Minister, asking him to give to Mr Brown.

In sending the Prime Minister an email I was obliged to do two things:

1. Give my personal details ie (real) name and postal address.

2. Email address - which I had to verify via a link.

In the email I identified myself (Codebreaker) on this site but also told him my position(s) within Royal Mail. I gave hm the link to this site. POSTMAN :pray

I am NOT totally comfy with what I have done but did it for one reason - I CARE about the FUTURE of ALL of US within Royal Mail.

I am a little worried about revealing so many (identifying) personal details to the Government but that was the only way I could send an email to the Prime Minister's Office - and I am told via email that it has been received by the PM's Office!

Despite my worries I think it can only be a good thing.

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL.

Great post Codebreaker and thanks for sending the link as well.
The good thing about it is you didn't rant and rave you gave some good points.
Someone at least fairly high up will read it and hopefully it will prick their conscience :pray

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
