My day was OK upto a certain point. I learned today that my union supports an organisation called 'unite against fascism' (UAF), the same people that threw eggs, heckled and caused slight violence against 2 elected MEP's today and stopped a press conference. I was left thinking, "who are the real fascists" who are fighting against free speech and trying to silence democracy (UAF).

Yeah, me and many other postmen voted BNP. It's freedom of choice.

Yep, my union seems to support fascists now, the so-called 'unite against fascists'. Their actions make them worse than the people they hate, because they use the tactics of the nazi's themselve. Mob violence and the removal of free speech is what the nazi's did, but here is an organisation doing the same things.

As for Billy Hayes stating the BNP are scum. Billy, if you spent more time doing your job instead of folowing Alan Johnsons footsteps, maybe people won't get the feeling your just looking after your own political career past the union.

OK, flame me. I'm only asking for freedom of speech, and for my union not to be conected to a political fascist group, the UAF.

Got to agree with you to a certain point, I so what happened on the news and they were bang out of order, screaming, pushing and even kicking his car, this will only help the bnp cause because people will start to feel sympathy towards them. That said they are still a party that promotes hatred, but as you said everyone has the right to freedom of speech ect.

I think you're missing the point. Fascists would deny everyone they don't agree with
freedom of speech, freedom generally (concentration camps) and ultimately the freedom
to live. And it's not just people they don't agree with, it's people they don't like, or want
to scapegoat because they have a different skin colour, religion, etnicity, disability or
whatever.
Anti-fascists aren't opposed to whole sections of the population, only to the fascists who
would seek to sow hatred and violence, and divide us.
Were the British and Allied Forces who fought fascism in WW2 the same as the Nazis they
fought because they sought to defeat them with violence?

thanks to the so called Summer Efficiency ,start at 6 am Having done all the Night Staffs (long gone) work and prepped our deliveries we left at 10 20 to do the 30 min of the extra delivery we have to do before we start ,then got to our own at to start 11 20 should have been 10 am , 2 1/2hours to do a 3 1/2 delivery , no problem say the managers but unfortunatly they have long gone when we get back at just before 2 pm leaving a trainee manager to cope with the massive amounts of cut off s bought back ,so as they cant get it covered it will sit there untill tomorow when it all starts again,
i find it more restfull and less stressfull now once i know i cant complete in time ,even though the managers are out there trying to catch us doing somthing wrong just keep up a steady pace untill your time and at the finishing time i can decide if i want to cut off or stay out for the OT ,
just imagine what would happen if no one did the OT !!
I take it that this or similar is happening around the country ?? interested in your thoughts
this reminds me of when they first brought in pegasus to our office the walks were so unachievable that the office fell into 2 types of people -

1 the panickers (minority) - rushed around in fear that they would get in trouble if they cut off with mail undelivered
2 the rest - saw that the workload was clearly too much so worked at a more "normal" rate than ever before, including weighing drop bags to keep within Royal Mail standards and generally not cutting corners which i think nearly all of us tend to do. The result of this caused us to bring about a third of a walk back at least every day. Within a few weeks the walks were drastically cut to where they were before.
