London Posties Deliver a massive YES vote for strike action

Ah ,the get the snails to chase their tails game.
We cut the office budget by 15% and demand savings of 10%. The suckers make the savings ,but still overspend by 5% ;so we make 10% and silly sods get no 50/50 and still run around like headless chickens

I dont agree. Very few businesses are open on a Saturday and its these that unfortunately we need to target in order to put pressure on both RM and the government. RM appeared quite happy to ditch Saturdays as a delivery day, its only the USO that prevented them from doing that and cutting the number of reserves down. Despite a few problems, I still believe that functional rolling strikes are the best way to disrupt the service at very little cost to us.

I agree with that 100% . It takes a short while to become effective but once backlogs reach a critical point, the entire system implodes. So you get paid for working ,but the system is so buggered ,nothing moves.
Take a gander at the pattern of the last dispute, rolling action,suspended, talks,rolling, suspended, talks.
Just don't suspend nothing till acceptable resolution this time. After all, there can't be a single soul left breathing who accepts the word of management on trust

I agree but I'd have it every week over the summer, just think about a bbq on the picket line and then another one when you get home and not having to worry about falling asleep a 7pm on a Saturday night

I just hope that they don't insist on people completing their Shifts, if it overlaps the start of the Strike, like they did last time. I know that it doesn't affect me yet. But it may well spread to other parts of the Country later. And I REALLY don't want to be faced with the choice of being on the wrong side of a Picket Line for a couple of hours (the shift times have changed slightly since last time). Or walking out unofficially, two hours before the end of my Shift.

In case you're wondering: I'll be doing the latter, if I'm put in that situation again.

Don't worry about that andy2007 as long as you do your bit by going on strike on your due day I'm sure most if not all will realise that you are not breaking but just performing the function that is not on I/D action!. And this is not national YET but our time will come we must all do our best to fight the fight without giving them an inch (25.4mm) nor a quarter of an inch (6.35mm) but above all UNITY IS STRENGTH.

Other areas of the Country are slowly (too slowly) coming on board.

I'm sure there will be an emergency motion to annual conferene aimed at bringing everyone together for a national ballot.

There will be plenty of debating time now that the Government have confirmed that they have postponed the 2nd reading of the postal services bill which was due to be heard next tuesday with delegates from conf being bused down to protest.

There is a pressure valve being created here and I agree with Belial that we must not step back this time until we have the deal on our terms.

Certainly agree with the rolling effort. I think it was going quite well last time,but didnt a couple get stopped because of incorrect wording by union HQ? That has got to be avoided this time.

Royal Mail’s injunction claims that the union had given flawed notification of the strikes. Although the union gave notice within the proper time frame of a week, proper notification also requires that every workplace affected is properly detailed. Royal Mail’s solicitors provided a 15-page petition to the High Court saying that the notification was not filed properly.

Hooty I dont think the main board should be discussing Royal Mail`s attempts as it is highly sensitive but not significant and the beauty of workplace ballots is that they cannot not get an over injunction. But for obvious reasons i am not going to explain on this board and yes we have decided what action we are taking but all will be announced in due course.

The Branch Committee would like to thank all the members who took the
bold decision to vote yes in the recent London-wide Branch by Branch
industrial action ballot. We understand the choice was not easy.

The strength of your support demonstrates to management that you are far
from happy with the way that Royal Mail have been treating you and that you
are not simply going to take constantly being pushed around, lack of job
security, pay freezes and the constant changes to our pension entitlements
without doing something about them.

Your union is aware of the wider political and economic situation, so we will
not be rushed into rash decisions on strike action. We have informed Royal
Mail of the results from the ballots and given them 7 days to respond before
the union considers exactly what our next steps will be.

As soon as we have decided on what we believe would be the best course of
action we will endeavour to ensure that you are the first to know, however this
may not be possible as we may have to use the news media to publicise what
is going on in Royal Mail, so don't be surprised if you read it in a newspaper
before we've had a chance to put up a notice or have a meeting.

Whatever the events of the next few weeks may be, remember that you the
