Whilst I suppourt a strike,is it not like a game of chess, trying to out wit your opponent.
With so many people unemployed ,a labour Goverement anti Postmen, lots of acting managers and other mangers proably able to supervise some casuals ,just wandering about the other side of coin.
Last time we had 1 day strikes on different days had no effect at all, except for giving work to Agencey staff and who could claim o/t and postmen who could not and lost money.
Hope if we go out this time it will be effective.

Re: London Posties Deliver a massive YES vote for strike action
Royal Mail have recieved the results and the results are going up in the offices still open and the rest tommorrow. There were 160 units balloted which included some admin only offices like old street.
It would be unusal if CWU HQs sent London results out around the country but if i get time i will post some up over the weekend.
But to say the results are amazing and in the worst recession in living memory is an understatement. It must be unprecendented to have 154 Royal Mail uniformed grade offices unamiously voting yes in such numbers, it does not happen often even in a national ballot.
I take my hat of to our members they have proved to me they are loyal to this union and up for a row if the arguement and the reason is just and of course reps have meetings and the comms are right.
Conference should now be very intresting.

Re: London Posties Deliver a massive YES vote for strike action
all being well i support all idustrial action to defend our jobs but at the national level i dont think it's going to happen.
very quiet on the union front in our office and i do think that the communication workers union are again not talking enough to it's members and keeping them informed.
as well as that we have all just recieved a £400 bonus which i presume the press and media will beat us with you can see the headlines now"royal mail go on strike while £400 bonus paid"it's headline news waiting to happen.

Re: London Posties Deliver a massive YES vote for strike action
Great news everyone, lets show them what the workforce mean and how we all feel about this, they have stepped over the line in a big way this time - i've never felt so trampled on in all my 16yrs as a postie and feel we've let them get away with murder the last time we were out - i'm sure we will not be making that same mistake again, hopefully the feeling across the country will grow and gather pace at a rapid rate now. Yes no one likes to strike or lose money but these results should show how important this is to all of us to protect our jobs and previous terms and conditions we have built up and sweat for over the years, lets not forget we make the company the success it is today not these prats above us, well done everyone.
