14 months into this thread and not a single confirmation of a DO being served with WS flats ,are these FSM's one of those urban myths or once the flats are sorted, do you send them to Burma? :confused

The FSM is in NIMC but it can't handle the amount of mail so we don't get any walk sorted mail from it (the FSM is where all those white stickers with bar codes on them come from, you know the ones that cover the addresses).

dont work on the topps 2k but then i wouldnt want to as there is constant bickering on the thing also its always breaking down due to the (i think)mail they put through it as they seem to think its an all singing all dancin machine the mc engineeers hate the thing

thanks for all comments.
Up to 36,500 items an hour can be read by this machine using up to ten staff to operate depending how much mail is put through it. It will read not just flats but also much thicker items ,items in cellophane, a lot of the thinner Amazon packets, (items up to 5cm thick). It should, in theory, take a lot of staff off the manual sorting. Ask your line manager to get the full Spec to read out in your WTLL session.

or mine - not even seen walk sequencing which has been mentioned in one thread today suggesting we should be working faster than most of us are.

I don't think these machines are doing what RM expected of them, I know the NIMC has a FSM but it can barely sort the flats to the correct office nevermind walksorting them, it's another case of putting in the cuts and then trying to get the machines to work the way they are supposed to.

Tell you all what the bogus promise of walksorted flats did give us- we lost 15 full time jobs ,we got 56p a week bonus ,and we got an average of 40 mins a day added to IPS :shhhhh Whats the minimum wage again??

We don't have a FSM in our MC but we do get the half-full boxes from elsewhere of course, and we sort them manually. Two things:

(1) We get a very high level of missorts from all FSM senders (must worse than the manual bundles we still get from some small centres), but some are consistently worse than others. Is there more than one sort of FSM?

(2) It's obvious that FSM owners just chuck everything they have into their machines, and sometimes we get large quantities of mech letters coded by the FSM. We find that our LSMs won't read the FSM codes. Sensible, or what?
