We have collection SAs, which admittedly I don't do, however they have been whittled away in both numbers and hours a number of times in the last 12 months. Now I do realise that there is a need for some to work overtime and there is the SA bonus too, BUT I feel it would be better to lose the SAs and incorporate collections in hybrid duties in order to protect full time duties. I would imagine there is about 20 people involved in collection SAs in total out of a workforce of 160 or so and that is why I believe they should be sacrificed providing there is agreement to keep the hours in another form.
SAs have been a nice little earner because of the enhanced pay rate BUT nobody should forget that it is overtime and as such can be removed and obviously is being removed. It was done at a time when it was difficult to cover various elements but times change and we should tailor the hours available accordingly.

Hah half a billion quid proffs a year though half of it goes to paying your pensions that we didnt pay for over a decade but times change and you should be grateful to have a job so doff your cap and work for nothing and at a rate that will insure you dont pick up most of your pension because you will be worked into an early grave or stand up and say you in royalmail and government fked up so you pay and let us do our job as postmen and feed our families and have a semi decent retirement like some members of royalmailchat.

Re: SA's
today my friend who does s.a received a letter stating that on the 15th of june his hours of work will change, he currently starts at 6 and does a full round until 2 and a certain amount of s.a, the letter states that he will now start at 10.30 and finish at 6pm which will involve doing a different round to his current signed for round and also a collection. he has told the dom he will not accept this in the company of the union rep and the dom says that he will be suspended if he does not, surely they cannot change your working hours, your signed for postround and your life!??

What about the people with second jobs, the gardeners the taxi drivers, window cleaners and so on?, there are many of each in our office, make their start times later and they will have to choose between jobs, that was always the attraction with Royal Mail the fact you could fit two jobs in but that would appear to heading for the door now.

IIRC NO employer can change your contracted hours without your express agreement, or if they shift your working hours, and you do not disagree within a certain time ( 13 weeks, I think ).tragictramp wrote:today my friend who does s.a received a letter stating that on the 15th of june his hours of work will change, he currently starts at 6 and does a full round until 2 and a certain amount of s.a, the letter states that he will now start at 10.30 and finish at 6pm which will involve doing a different round to his current signed for round and also a collection. he has told the dom he will not accept this in the company of the union rep and the dom says that he will be suspended if he does not, surely they cannot change your working hours, your signed for postround and your life!??
