process on a grievance,

Post by the one »

my manager has given me a stage 2 warning,

in feb 2008 i went into hospital for surgery, which is listed on the royal mail intranet as a reportable industrial disease, on recovering from the surgery i was told that i would possibly need further surgery to make a full recovery, so i told atos all this, so they suggest in my report to royal mail that any further surgery/treatment is recommended to be classed as the same absent (corrective surgery), on coming back i recieve a stage 1 warning, then 6 months later i get a call into the hospital again for further surgery, on coming back i recieve a stage 2, (shocking) i had explained to my manager that i needed further surgery in my back to work at the 1st stage interview, plus the atos report,

Then i was adviced by union to put in a grievance that the manager had not taken migating circumstances into consideration, as hospitalisation should be discounted from stage warnings,
THEN I RECIEVE A LETTER FROM OUR AREA MANAGER STATING THAT HE WAS REFUSING MY GRIEVANCE ON THE BASIS THAT THERE IS APPEAL PROCESS AT STAGE 3,

I`m assuming that because of the Area managers input that your grievance was at a stage 3 of the grievance procedure?
Seems like he`s playing the hard t.wat for brownie points....you could always appeal again ,but knowing this shower of shite they would probably come to the same conclusion.
Still at least it will be on record that you`ve raised a grievance, very handy if it goes to an employment tribunal.

Also how stupid is that statement......you can appeal at a stage 3,your asking for a decision now not at a stage 3.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09

no stage 2, but i'm told by union they should not have given me a stage, for hospitalisation, as it states in the attendance procedure that it should be discounted from stage warnings,

Hmmm maybe they`ve changed how they do it then...?
I`m talking about the grievance procedure now I think your on about being on a Stage 2 under the attendance procedure?
What I wanted to know was what STAGE is your grievance at,it should be a stage 3 if an area manager is involved.
Stage 1 is with your immediate line manager,if you don`t agree with his decision then you use to go to Stage 2 which would be a different manager within your office.
Stage 3 is then usually when a so called independant manager :left: gets involved to sort it out.Kangaroo court comes to mind.
No they shouldn`t have given you a stage warning but these boards are full of stories of RM doing just that and in many cases even with Atos involvement.
What are the union doing about it or have they washed there hands of it now the big chief Area arsewipe has played God?

full story in short,

went into hospital for surgery then came back to work 4 months later, stage 1 warning, atos states any further surgery should be classed as same absent,
then 6 months later corrective surgery, interview with manager decides to give me stage 2, i'm then adviced by union to hand in a grievance to my manager not against the stage against the management for not following the attendance procedure guidelines,
then i recieve a letter off area manager saying he's not accepting it, as there appeals at stage 3 none at stage 1 nor 2, but i did not make the grievance against the stage i had been warned not to by union, yes i agree kangaroo court,

I think I understand what you mean, however if you made your grievance in the same manner, I wouldn't be surprised if it has not been understood.

You need to make yourself clear again to the Area Manager; you are not appealing your stage, (because you cannot appeal stages 1 and 2), you are putting in a grievance against your Manager for failing to follow the attendance procedure. You wish this grievance to be recorded in order that it can be recalled should a stage 3 ensue in future. Your grievance must be recorded, whether or not the Area Manager agrees with you.

ok cheers, sent him another letter today, telling him, sorry explaining to him that the grievance was against my manager not against the stage, and it must have been my fault for not putting it down clear enough, :nana :nana but i have also said i will be taking it further,

also read just now that there is 3 steps/ stages to a grievance,
1 / talk to the line manager first then if not sorted,
2/ your 2nd line manager and if not sorted
3/ some manager from outside,

so why is my area manager involved now,
