12 Weeks of training? I only had 3 days with a coach, then it was 'off you go son, good luck'. Maybe because im only on a 12 week contract to begin with, but who knows, I know im under a lot of responsibility with this job being that there are sensitive and valuable items of mail under my control, so personally, I dont blame the coaches, LM's or DOM's but RM themselves, it shows to me a complete lack of security, safety and training, maybe this sort of matter should be made public domain so that all the irate customers that lose mail, can work it out for themselves and leave RM drowning in their own blood. I fully understand why PostComm have tightened their grip and yank their balls as hard as possible now.
Sorry to say it, but personally, I have never worked for such a soppy 'couldn't give a monkeys' company, and i'm sure I never will work for one in the future. If they offer me a new contract, im affraid they have lost me already, i'll do my current one, then its bye bye for me.
Thanks guys, everything said has been taken with great appreciation, I respect you for that, and for putting up with what can only be best described as a third world company.

http://www.hse.gov.uk/stress/standards/index.htm

The more you dig into this, the more Royal Mail are breaching, on a daily basis, H & S standards and regulations with regards to work related stress with their oppressive, unreasonable attitude towards staff.

I think I'll do a Daily Telegraph type feed on this and drip bits of law (not Royal Mail bollox, but LAW) day by day because the DOM's and liners are acting illegally on a daily basis towards us to achieve their ridiculous self serving targets.

Bye Bye :cfo

Good on you mate :Applause
I can relate to nearly everything thats been written in this thread. It DOES happen on a daily basis in my office.
Just 'cause i won't put up with it, why should people who are not so strong willed, or those on short term contracts, get all this sh*t.
It's about time RM were exposed for the bullies that they are.

Right I looked at the agreement regarding coaching. It states that the training period is 13 weeks in total - the first week being shown the ropes and shadowing the coach. You should then have at least 6 weeks on the same duty although 12 is recommended. So you should not be shoved on reserve to do the crap duties. Demand to see the agreement and kick the coach and the rep up the a**e to make sure it is happening. I don't know what part of the country you are in but they should support you in this.

It's true, new starters are ideally meant to be kept on the same walk for 12 weeks. However, the DOM will just say "operational needs" which then makes it OK to shift people around willy nilly so they don't have to pay overtime training people up.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

Wranglered are the CWU brothers and sisters then getting full CWU legal backing at this Employment Tribunal.

No. And neither did they on one already held, and two more still to go from the same office.... The only one the union supported was lost....to say the barrister didn't perform would be the understatement of the year....

The big case is mine and is about trade union detriments, health and safety, a protected disclosure and a refusal to grant flexible working so I could care for my wife.....all the postmen will be going to support me, at financial cost to themselves and whatever else they might have to suffer for standing by me....

I have a slight sympathy for the union not backing me....this case has massive costs involved and that is why they declined...

I have spent over 400 hours preparing for it...at solicitor rates that is probably £100K before we even get to the 17 days...

However it is all about bullying and harassment on a massive scale against me as the rep...if they go to these lengths against me, what hope do our members have?

In that sense, if the CWU really meant business they would have helped a little more...however they are a commercial organisation first, an organisation of principle second...

Someone has to make a stand and it is going to be me... This will get some significant press coverage because there is a lot of dirty washing to air...some of which will interest the tabloids...

Rest assured I am sure events will be covered on this site and elsewhere in quite a bit of gory detail....

Good luck Wranglered. Just remember to be careful about how much detail you, or indeed anyone else puts in the Public Domain, during the Case. You know what RM are like, for finding loopholes. Don't give them any ammo to have the case thrown out. :hmmmm

Agree totally with Pinky. It's a little shameful of the CWU. If they are big enough to take and spend my Union dues they should be big enough to support me and my brothers/Sisters :)
