Perhaps we should start up a RMC Scooter Club :cool
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

No, you can't.

No, sadly, the Collegue Shares don't exist. They never did. It's just a Bonus Scheme, made to look like shares, because they weren't allowed to sell the real ones.

The original idea, had been to give us all real shares in RM, before selling the rest off on the Stock Market. But thankfully, they weren't allowed to do so.

:so there Hi, Andy, I'm sitting here reading through my Colleague share plan, and it states you could 'sell back some of your shares to the company after four years,or if you wait for an extra year.the company will buy back your shares at valuation price at the time.It also says once the plan has matured, and you sell your shares back to the company, then if the law doesn't change ythey could arrange to put the money ibto a pension arrangement, free of tax.
Have i been reading this wrong?

No, you haven't read it wrong. But if RM is sold off, they will cease to exist. So it would be a case of trying to sell "the Emperors new clothes" back to RM.

So long as RM isn't sold off, you can sell them back at the appointed time. But if someone else buys RM, then they won't be worth the paper they're printed on.

The "resale" value of the phantom shares, is just another part of the bonus scheme.

Not neccessarily. They have to defeat the Back Bench rebellion, Public outrage, and a hosile Press. At the very least, the Privatisation will be delayed. With luck, we might even be able to get it shelved.

I for one, still live in hope!

If you give up Hope, then what's the point in fighting back?
It's unlikley that we'll get the Privatisation plans shelved. But it's not impossible. Remember: It 'aint over 'till the Fat Lady sings!

You may not be far from the truth. There are also a number of legalities to be covered before privatisation can take place. I was with an ESI before privatisation of that and went on the 31st March when the company was due to be "privatised" on the 1st April - it was exactly a year later when the privatisation took place because all the legal niceties hadn't taken place. Even if the plan gets through parliament eventually it is going to be some considerable time before any change takes place. Not least of all the hostile reactions - the ESI was under the Thatcher years when everything was being sold off and there wasn't any hostile reaction to the sell offs then.
