Mail chiefs have learned nothing

ADAM Crozier, chief executive of Royal Mail, has been paid in excess of £2 million a year by taxpayers in wages, bonuses and a gold-plated pension.

Crozier’s CV of advertising salesman and chief executive of the Football Association hardly qualified him to run the Royal Mail.

Allan Leighton, the former chairman of Royal Mail, was the brains and Crozier the hatchet man. Making a profit by closing post offices, cutting services and greatly increasing postal costs is not really hard.

First class mail now takes up to four days, which is not really a first class service. Now that the high costs to the public have put Royal Mail in profit, the unelected Lord Mandelson wants to sell off part to his foreign cronies — have they learned nothing from the sale of the utility companies?
