E9 office shared with 2 other offices, E2 and E8.
not sure if my duty is odd but i have never heard of it anywhere else. i perform the phg duty and also take out a walk. needless to say i'm like a blue arse fly in the mornings. duty time starts at 5:45 in which as many mech bundles as possible get thrown off b4 6am.
6am recieve the reg and allocate to walks which takes me up 2 about 7am.
7am untill 8am throw off the rest of the walk inbetween handing out the drivers reg.
8am til 9am on the dead mail.
9am til 9:30 - 10am hand out the rest of the reg.
once thats done i get to tie up my walk and take it out.
has anyone else heard of a duty like it?

Hello mate and welcome.
Funny enough we we're going to have a duty like that at our place when we we're sorting out the SDD.
It didn't come off for whatever reason, not sure why,as i wasn't involved in the sorting out as i'd just transferred there.
The walk would of been say bout 2hrs-ish or summin like that, one phg was up for it as it gets him out ect.
But seems a lot of rushing around to me,but then you'd have a small-ish walk so not too bad i suppose.
And if you don't have to come back to the office like us,even better

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Arrive at my office at around 4.45am depending on if i get caught by traffic lights ( why the f**k do traffic lights need to be on at 4.45 in the sodding morning)
start work at 5 am, by time ive signed on,had a slash, put stuff in locker, got a coffee and taken piss out of my m8's orrible white spindly legs hanging out of his
shorts,its usually gone 5
go round & pick up all the crap night shift have sorted, collect 3 or 4 boxs of mech, and clear round the flat frames, and picked up my packets from drop bag, start
throwing off and start chatting to 2 m8s about computer shitte till 5.30 when they go on sorting,I then sort all packets from trolleys onto walks and when next mech
comes in put that out while clearing round, letters, pkts and flats
i try and have walk ready by 8am another slash, pick up regs and last clear round of missorts and wait for callup around 8.10am,being v senior postman am lucky my walk is a 5 min cycle
ride from office so am usually starting walk around 8.15-8.20 am, prob though is start of my walk is busy main rd,and get loads of w*****s stopping me for directions...i remember once there was a Q forming when 3 different people had stopped to ask me directions,if they are polite/female attractive they will get send in right direction,if they are rude, abrupt or ugly i usually send them off in completely wrong direction ( I get a kick out of doing that LOL)
once i have finished main road i can take the royal mail bike helmet off ,and hope my driver has dropped my other 4 bags off in right pouch boxes... he cant see much and makes Mr Magoo look like like someone with 20/20 vision...if he manages that task ok and all bags in right place should be finished on a good day around 11.15-1130am ,cycle helmet back on and 5 min ride back to office, hand in N/Ls, have slash get stuff out of locker, take piss out of sad bloke in bike shed having a fag,(i think he live there) get on my typhoon and home wood bound some times it gets a bit exciting when driver drops all bags in wrong place and i end up doing walk all out of order but the above sums up my working day
never had a meal relief since once over the ground /job and finish came in,just taken end of duty

2 phgs
2 drives
1 missorts/bag drops/small delivery
22 deliveries
2 night duties 1230-530 tues- sun(sa overtime)
530 start
530-545 walksort prep
545-800 ips
800-900 ips, also missorts arive around 830.( some still preping at 1000)
900 allowed to leave, most getting out around 930
1230-230 deliveries finished(depending onweather extended is being paid or not)
note: Haven't included breaks because very few actually stop for one, supposed to be 900-940, also these finishing times are including a high percentage of early arrivers, and car users. If breaks were taken and the job was done starting to time and without cars , god knowswhat time some would finish.
