There are members in my office who would not be in a job if it wasn't for the union, do they remember this do they F**k they have been heard slating the union at every turn :no no AND they have the gall to say they can't afford to go out :no no can any of us? we all work for the same thing  like madelin4 I have a mortgage to pay with just the 1 wage coming in.
How would they feel if when they needed help we said can't afford it , No time today got to race around an screw the job up.

Good post orange, these people never ever cease to amaze me, their stupidity, arrogance, and ability to always harp on about, how they cant afford, it makes you wonder what would they stand up for, two people on a million quid a year want you to accept a pittance of a pay rise which is taken off you by losing your early shift allowance and doing households for nothing, and are threatening to get rid of you and a third of your colleagues and basicly treat you like s**t. But after working and getting paid while their colleagues suffer hardship on the picket line will quite happily accept anything that this dispute brings them, all their actions do is prolong this dispute and make it easier for Dumb and Dumber to split the workforce, I cannot put into words what i actualy think of them, there isnt enough space to write on, they are the scum of the earth...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

the officials on my picket line will be instructed to chat to all potential strike breakers to point out in a pleasant manner why they shouldnt be crossing because what there union has done for them nationally, locally and personally. 11 yrs ago this tactic worked quite well in my office just ask them for a quiet word before they cross just be VERY careful what you say
as the fecking managers will be looking out for agressive behaviour on the line

just use a reasonable argument for each individual attempting to cross

DONT GIVE THE strike breakers A EASY RIDE

So a scab is someone who crosses the picket line, what about a union member who just doesn't attend work whats the view on that. I do feel for the non-members who can't strike due to fears of UA or Sickness records.

i told my guys that i would like some support on the line but if they feel they cant do that then stay away
as for non-union members who have come to me and said they dont wanna cross the line ive told them to stay away too
my advice to them was if they get into trouble for not attending work just ask me for a form and sign up even just for a month or even less and RM cant do anything about it

dont know if thats legal but keeps the strike breakers down to minimum

I think someone said elsewhere that the form would have to be signed BEFORE any action,or at least the date should be before any action. :whistle

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

a union member has the right to stay away although we would like them to show support.
non members must decide for themselves, for whatever reason they have chosen not to be in the cwu

Here's a photo of Wesley Everest. Lumberjack and member of the I.W.W. Good old Wesley knew how to deal with strike breakers. They lynched him, but not before former soldier and crack shot Wes shot three strike breakers and the son of a boss who were part of a mob attacking the Union hall. Nice work Wesley.

Don't know if you've seen this video about the Wobblies. http://link.brightcove.com/services/pla ... =281859611

Spartacus Thanks for the link it was great. The commitment of the workers, the archive film, and the passion they still had.
One statement that really struck home to me was "The conscious withdrawal of efficiency" maybe we could learn from that and as they said it was the best way to win any dispute.:dance :dance :dance
