condoning missing mail? no time for levity in missing mail..it doesnt matter what the contents are.. could be anything. £5, £10, £20, £30, £40, £40, £100 worth... missing items = missing items.

laugh at this and you laugh at all cases of missing mail past, present and future and at the people who have had this happen to them.

Its interesting you mention Tesco as i ordered an expensive DSLR camera online at the end of Feb. When it did not turn up they sent a second replacement and that never arrived either (two rest days off wasted waiting in) After much telephone work it turned out that both were stolen from their dispatch and returns warehouse, they went on to say a lot had gone that way. In the end i drove and picked up from store and received £60 off for my troubles caused. I have never had any problems with Amazon or Play.com and they both use Royal mail. :Very Happy

believe it or not.. post arrived... replacement for the disc now 65. i cancelled the other two discs cos i bought them elsewhere, so im waiting for my refund on those two.. anyway, they sent me 2 now 65's....

and guess what? grr ive had enough now lol. the case on one of them is scratched and marked when tesco said they check them before sending. and the other case is one they made up themselves doh.. im literally thinking are they taking the pish?

what ive got to do now is, email tesco, ask for a return authorisation code. and send them back to the address the other two packaes had gone missing.

think i'll open a book here. what are the odds of the next package disappearing?

think i'll do some confusing, i wont use the plastic mail sack like for the last two, i'll use a jiffy bag and place them both in that.
i dont think i can put a recorded delivery on a freepost, i'll check when i get there. i'd rather pay 75p out of my own pocket as an experiment and claim it back from tesco.

krussel, was it uk mainland or online (jersey) u ordered it from?

lol, i am reasonably lightened up. just been waiting since march so i can play it. quite some good tunes on it. if amazon or play had them, as they're quite hard to get hold of now.. im looking out for now 63 and 64. got 62. im missing the ones from now 38 to 61 rofl.

thats what i said originally, a scam in the warhouse.

funny enough, i telephoned play.com yesterday. asked them where my ultravox cd ordered before xmas. was wondering where that had got to. they checked and said oh yeah, you are right. they send it straight away lol

Sadly this sort of thing seems to happen more and more often these days. I dont know if its because of the increase of part time workers or agent staff but its on the increase. What i do know though is that its bloody annoying when it happens :mad . Trouble is quite often the deals you get offered are only available with online orders and not in store. Anyway I am pleased your discs turned up. :Very Happy

Maybe, in the future you could try downloads, Amazon and Tesco both have download stores that are now (afaik) DRM free

thanx for the downloads info. im not really into that. some download albums actually cost more than the proper cd. occasionally i download the odd one or two songs from a site, usually the bit rate is a bit low but..

i just thought of something on the way back from the p.o well, three or four things. if in my case they were taken by a thefter in the tesco warehouse, they must have remarkable timing. if mine got delivered, they must have been thefted before they logged the packages got logged and the contents logged. or they had been received, they finished for the day thinking leave it until tomorrow, then they got thefted. and if they did get break ins, surely some cameras are floating around. maybe this is a regular occurence at tescos and they don't admit it as they won't want bad publicity, and if that is the case, then tesco really are terrible because they leave joe public to all the chasing. if that is the case, then that is deplorable.

anyway, i recorded the delivery. i never knew that i could record a freepost item before. besides that, even if the previos two were recorded, it is still possible for them to be thefted cos if they just lay around unopened for a while and get a break in after its been delivered, the situation would have been exactly the same, only being reassured eventually by royal mail that it had been signed for. unless its a scam that involves non recorded mail.

the problem with recorded mail is that contents are not recorded. as i rhe case of that ebayer, i could have recorded the package, and the ebayer could turn around and say she had received a package, but the contents were not what she had sent, or make up another story saying that further damage occured and they weren't the original condition, and scam a way out of paying up.

if tesco are losing items, iit will eventually be the consumer who pays for it in the end. whether they tesco claim on their insurance and those costs passed onto consumers. just as car insurance costs are passed onto ordinary drivers because of other car thefts etc. taxpayers pick up bills eventually cos of other krap going around, so its always the ordinary people who end up paying more because of others, and that is not acceptable.

how many compensation claims go to rm every year? why should r.m issue stamps if it wasn't their fault? if a million book of stamps get sent out a month, thats £2,520,000 .. and that two and a half million quid could be put to better use, like putting it back into pension fund, or employing someone, or training costs.

Its interesting you mention Tesco as i ordered an expensive DSLR camera online at the end of Feb. When it did not turn up they sent a second replacement and that never arrived either (two rest days off wasted waiting in) After much telephone work it turned out that both were stolen from their dispatch and returns warehouse.

krussel, i don't like the sound of that. when something gets dispatched, that could mean in the process of dispatch, meaning the order had come through but hasnt been picked, if it had been picked, then it had to be packed (second part of process). then it gets packed, it gets labelled. then it gets franked (does it mean its dispatched when it is franked?) dispatch means the process in travelling to courier, or when courier enters property and receives them.

so when parcels with franks laying around in bins are not dispatched, they are merely waiting to be despatched. and if this is when they were stolen, they weren't dispatched. when travelling to a mail office, or even to a post office, packages or letters are being dispatched because they are being conveyed to the courier. so parcels left lying around are not dispatched. when they are laying around in bins inside a post office, mail office, then they have been dispatched because they have been taken over by the courier.

so the fault of that lays with the company cos they have dispatched the parcels before they have been collected or delivered to the courier.

so when a theft occurs, the system says they've been sent even if they are laying in front of someone. tut. and none the wiser.

if i was posting a cheque off to someone, i can't say it's dispatched when it's on the coffee table, even when it's been addressed. dispatch means the process of actions of conveying the letter after it has left the property, enroute to mailbox or post office. when it gets inserted into a mailbox or over the counter, that dispatch which becomes the reponsibility of the conveyor.

now, if i had accidentally dropped the letter enroute, i have to write out another. if i got robbed enroute, that becomes another matter, but still have to write out another.

if i was selling cameras from home, i would know if its been stolen if it was missing before posting. but i cannot say its been dispatched before physically posted or at least in the process of leaving the property to dispatch. unless systems like collect and deliver occur.

phew

krussel, back in march i purchased tesco online. they were deivered to me. i had to send them back because they were faulty. i sent them back and they didn't receive them.. i sent certificate of postage to teso headoffice, they ordered a new batch.. when i received the new batch in april, they were faulty. so i had to send them back.. they didnt receive them.. sent them certifaicate of postage.

in themeantime, i purchased two of the discs elsewhere, cancelled them, and tesco only had to supply me the remaining one of the original order. when i received it, it was faulty. they sent me two of the same copy for some strange reason. one of them wasnt the proper cover anyway and im not having any nonsense. so that why i went to the postoffice, to send them back.

hows the camera going after your experience with them? lucky they were rest days, but its all time consuming. i think i know which digital slr you mean too. crikey, quite a lot of money goes missing every year then

The camera is going fine (its a Canon) and as i was mucked around and complained i got £60 off the camera which was already reduced by £100 in the online offer so i did alright but i was mad as hell at the time. :mad :mad Good luck with the cd,s. One piece of advice though if your planning on building up a large collection, be sure your house insurance covers them. A mate of mine had over 1000,s cd,s and got robbed and his insurance would only pay a max of £500 for audio media
