Done...........

Kevin,

I am writing to express my concern at the lack of communication cascading down to ordinary CWU members. I signed up to the royalmailchat.co.uk site around 3 months ago, and in that short time i have been better informed about RM & CWU activities than i ever have been before.

For instance, the only source of information about the ongoing and pending industrial action in Scotland and London has been RMC. I suggest that you sign up to the RMC site, and have a particular look at the "Blue Shirts" forum and the "London strike update" thread within that forum, there you will see other ordinary members have expressed similar sentiments to me.

The impression being given currently is that the ordinary members are carrying the fight without national leadership, this may lead to our dispute becoming fragmented and ineffective, and RM will not be slow to exploit this.

Thanks for listening

Notice was served to the Royal Mail that 159 different workplacesin lONDON will be balloted for strike action. The ballot papers will be posted out from next Monday.

We are fully confident that we will deliever a huge yes vote. However Scotalnd and London and some other brave units shouldt be left to fight a national fight on their own.

With regards to Comms a letter from DGSP and GS will be arriving tommorrow at members home addresses. Yes may be late but hopefully it will be a start of a sustained bout of comms. The National briefing in Manchester on Thursday will be a watershed for the CWU. If it is correct that the Leadership will pull no punches in uping the anti against Royal Mail`s virtual de recgonition of the CWU then it will be time for a roll call at this briefing.

There can no longer be a hiding place for Branch`s who are not prepared to join the fight for the future of our industry. The stakes are too high for Branch`s and indivudals to have a thousand excuses why they cant do anything. As I said before nothing is impossible members are the same everywhere they just need the infomation and the meetings and providing they get both they will support this union in fighting for their future.

Thanks Dingo, though it may not seem like it, I actually agree with you. We are a national union, we need to start acting like one, but to do this then all members need to be informed. I think a weekly e-mail from HQ giving bullet points would be more than enough to keep us up to date, so it probably won't happen. I just hope that HQ haven't left it to late to gather support and galvanise the membership.
