they want even more hours
found out today they now want 130 hours from us. i think most of the lads thought we would just lose the 2 nights. and that was it. i got a letter from the union yesterday as well about protecting our jobs ect. what i want to know really is are we going to fight this or will it be the same old same old. you know where they talk a brilliant fight and the 2 blokes turn up. ones got a white flag and the other ones got a pole to hoist it up on. if we dont start fighting back i can see in 2 or 3 yrs all the walks will be on a 30 hr week

They want 6% from every D O every year, at Burslem we have been doing the job to the book, i.e using the van in and out, taking proper breaks, not using cars, because the only savings they can make, are the savings we ourselves made by rushing around making time for ourselves. They actually want 12% off us this year, because we gave them bugger all last year. If everybody did the job properly they would not be able to make these savings, it makes me smile every time i see that everybody in a D O has got a one off payment of a few hundred quid for making savings in a office usually by giving up a job/duty, doesnt anybody realise that we are helping them to make us work harder, and to get rid of us, because no matter what anybody says, you will never get that job/duty back EVER.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Today we had a pretty heavy day, these are the days when all the moaners come out of the woodwork, my delivery is going to take me longer than 3 1/2 hours, i should get help a member tells me, but you'll still finish a good 1 1/2 hours before your duty time i tell him, thats beside the point the union said it was going to be a 3 1/2 hour delivery span he says, i agree they did say that but if you came in at your proper time, didn't prep-up before the missort van, had your break and didn't use your car, it would take you to or over your duty time then you could ask for help without being sacked for getting help but finishing early.
and away he went back into the hole he came out of, until the next heavy day.

The chances are they will want it raised that's obvious, but i can't see the Union allowing it,and at the end ot the day i can't see us voting it in.
With the job losses now and the job losses that would happen if that happened, they'll be none of us left ffs,and also importantly
less paying Union subs.
My rep did tell me that the Union will fight tooth and nail not to get it raised.
But in all honesty,i can eventually see it going up by at least a bit,15-30 mins.
And then later on.................???
