Re: RM TO ANNOUNCE PAY FREEZE
TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS
Dear Colleagues
ROYAL MAIL LETTERS PAY CLAIM
A meeting took place yesterday with Dale Haddon HR Director at which the Union presented our Pay Claim.
Mr Haddon reiterated the company’s position, which is to freeze basic pay across Royal Mail Group this year, other than where agreements are already in place.
The Union argued that the company has taken an opportunistic position which is not justified by Royal Mail’s financial position as reported in January. Reduction in mail volumes arising from the recession were factored into the Business Plan and the company has made significant savings as a result of changes to the Pension Scheme and headcount reduction. In our view Royal Mail Letters remains able to respond positively to the CWU claim.
Mr Haddon confirmed that existing bonus incentives for senior managers would remain in place but indicated that he could see no circumstance in which the business would agree to a pay increase for CWU grades in this pay year. In response, the Union made it clear that the CWU would not accept a management imposed pay freeze at a time when the business is seeking to drive through change affecting the jobs and earnings of our members without proper Union involvement and when the company has made further substantial savings by reducing pension benefits.
A meeting has been arranged with Group Managing Director Ian Duncan and Group HR Manager Jon Millidge. The Postal Executive will consider the position at its meeting next week.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

To be more accurate, 16000 posties on the dole but I dare say there would be an increase in managementBELIAL wrote:16000 on the dole if you don't strike![]()

Re: RM TO ANNOUNCE PAY FREEZE
At the height of his powers (earnings) this man :cfo got paid the average wage of 145 full time postmen for doing jack sh*t apart from ruining this country's postal service it is time the recession came and bit this :cfo fools arse as hard as it is us all and a pay freeze is not going too make not one jot of difference to :cfo !. We can but show how we all feel by giving up one days pay for each and everyone of us for the hardship we all endure will make us all more worthy of another life than the lowlife of the high flyers :cfo & :lfo & :mfo and thier ilk!.

I'm actually in agreement with you on that Stokes, we may well be better off on the dole. A strike would bring us closer to that for sure.stokes11eg wrote:disgruntledpostie1 wrote:As my signature says 'It's better to die upon your feet than to live upon your knees!' Night tonic---with they way they are reducing wages and hours, it might be more finacially viable for folks to be on the dole by the the time they get rent rebates etc they won't be much worse off. There are times when folks Must Strike.
and this is one of them.
