Exec action was introduced to XXXXXXXXX Delivery Office on 20th April.

Due to low morale, Lack of Regionial CWU input no one had a clue what was happening here.

Our Del rep is long term sick + the Area Rep is on the sick to!.

Our Distribution Rep said he was dealing with it..Thats a joke..this went on for weeks..then a week to go stuck a notice on the CWU notice board saying as no one approached him prior to implimentation he never even objected!!! (He even stuck a signed note on the notice board to that effect..) This is inspite of several people approachimg him daily over several weeks to ask whats happening.

Our Branch CWU Sec? suddenly dumped his Post that he had held for umpteen years one week before without any warning not that he said boo to a cat anyway. TBH I think these two have 'used' the CWU as a drinking club.!

Anyways with less than a fortnight to go suddenly everyone realised it was going to be forced upon us.

A week to go a newbie Rep stepped in, (well done) We held a meeting (outwith RM property as they didn't want it to happen)

Monday morning..Bang it was in. What a farce..no one knew the sorting, very minimial training given (if any), overheads wrong, grossly oversized deliveries, new frames, working hours all changed.. 8 + deliery managers there from outwith Inverness DO for a bit of a show of numbers.

Posties..Bunch of wimps the majority, just rolled over and completed everything to date on O/T, just loads of moaning. The 'Runners' are already rushing around just to complete on time or with min O/T. Friday we were 140,000 items, about 40.000 above normal...Street times I'm guessing are supposed to be 9.20 inc 20min relief.. a few left between 11-12 mid-day most around 10.45 ish. all deliveries were completed eventually..some not back in office till between 4 and 6pm!!!

Note:- CWU. Virtually nobody knows there working agreement requirements..hence the forced acceptence...time the CWU were more pro-active in letting there members/non-members into there 'seemingly secret society' on what we should and shouldn't be expected to do as 95% just haven't a clue. IMHO The situation in Inverness is mostly attributal to the CWU's lack of leadership, support and advise to out lying districts over the last 15 years.

BTW I could have bought a car with my contributions to the CWU over the years and lost strike pay...and for what..Wakey Wakey

Sounds like you's have been treated shodely by CWU & RM, if it's any consolation RM are doing this everywere and the Exec action would have happend even if the your branch had been on the ball. happening in our office in two weeks time. only thing you can really do is ballot for strike action your new rep should be able to find out about it, if not through your branch then through division. You's may be balloting alone but i belive any action will be cordinated.

Your working practices will not have changed RM will only have taken exec action on buisness savings. as for your times on the street just work backwards from your finishing times 15mins pouching off 3.5 hours delivery span 15mins accelaration.

A sad story and this has been happening in many offices over the country. The lack of communication from the CWU has been a disgrace. We had reps recommending 4.5 hour deliveries despite no national agreement on this because it was creating full time jobs for most of the office. The 4.5 deliveries were tested and proved impossible. Without any agreement, new 3.5 hour deliveries were forced on us and most of them are equally impossible. I know for a fact my unit rep tried to contact our area rep on several occasions and he was always unavailable! A meeting was eventually called (outside) and most agreed a work to rule which has just been validated with a massive vote for industrial action. Most are now streaming and cutting-off and our managers are walking round like headless chickens as mega s**t hits the fan! Its like Xmas with the parcel backlog as well.
Truth is, without an organised and determined office with CWU backing, many offices like yours are being picked off one by one by RM. Royal Mail want to destroy the union and the CWU seem to be making it easy for them.

it is now clear to anyone with an ounce of brain that the new duties at dundee west are not working and will never work.still we have mangers who are in denial. who have convinced themselves that all these duties are do-able in 3hrs 30 mins. so what can we do? please tell me ,we have tried everything to persuade them. but to no avail. someone with a computer using pegasus must know better than posties with hundreds of years experience beteeen them!!even the obvious solution of testing a couple of walks falls on deaf ears. so the mail piles up ,frames are full of streamed mail and door 2 doors get left untouched

Bathgate/Broxburn exec action has been (as predicted) feckin disaster.

After only two days everything is well fvcked ,parcels in the cages the size of mount Everest.
Feckin mail left all over the shop,& as for oor quiet tuesday forget it! we still had the backlog fae Mondays fiasco.
Overheads have loadsa streets missin,as for the missorts you would have thought Stevie Wonder,David Blunket & Ray Charles were on the sorting.

People fighting wi each other is now a daily occurrence but its on the lines of the greedy OT barstewards against the ones who can see further into the future than tomorrow.

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into dunfy this morning only 3 twats had boxed up their walks early,a huge difference,most folk seem to be doing the shifts with loads of ot,apart from two or 3 lads who insist on finishing on their time and are sent to the naughty seats to sort mail for the remainder of their shift while PT's take out their walks,the pkts are disaster,and the mail is only going out cos of the folk from other offices coming in to work,we had folk in from Alloa,Glenrothes ,Burntisland,this is all going to end in tears for RM,and by the way the stakes are going to be raised over the next few days,RM in Fife and Central are 'going to be masters of their own destiny' according to a leaked letter I saw,watch out for some serious union bashing bro's and sisters.

hang in there. I think, hope, there will be lots of strike action in the next month or two. and it doesn't matter if HQ have the balls for it because it will be organised at branch & divisional level. I have far more confidence in the branch and division guys than HQ and the PEC ours were certainly better in 2007 advocating a no vote! think your in the same division and maybe even branch.

the thing that really annoys me. if you log on to the cwu web-site, there is no mention of this EA, like they live in a different world. they dont want to be involved.likes its too much trouble .they have an " ostrich with head in sand" approach to this. just hoping it goes away. but its not going away, is it?. and management are aware of the lack of involvement shown by high-ranking cwu officials.

Think they may be in denial for a while longer, heard today that they are looking for managers to go to Dundee to do night shifts!

They are dead against testing walks...and the reason they know fine well that on a proper test it can't be done...our EA goes in on the 11th of May we have already been told in advance that "managers will not phisically test duties" when you ask why? or DIM as good as admits that "people slow down" i think he means staff follow RM's proper proceduers. when you point out theres no agreement on the use of pegasus, he ignoers the point and draws you dirty looks. Point out that some duties have been properly tested in the past at 3hrs 30mins and they plan to add lots more calls onto it, again ignored and more dirty looks.
