A post box has gone missing in the latest of a string of unusual thefts.

When a postman arrived in Nettlesworth Lane in Vines Cross, near Heathfield, on Friday as part of his regular collection round, he discovered the pillar box had disappeared.

Sussex Police said they believed it had been taken between 3pm and 5pm that day when a red pick-up truck was seen making suspicious movements in the area.

The theft came within days of three wooden park benches with iron legs being taken from Hailsham.

The first two vanished from Greenwich Road and The Gages between Monday, April 20 and Wednesday, April 22, and the third disappeared from outside Hailsham Library between Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24.

Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.

No doubt he'll get a warning for not scanning the box on time.
