Re: Exec action hits Scotland
the point i was trying to make is this, if you "stream on the street" , what happens ?.you leave your office with a clear frame,as far as management is concerned, your walk isnt a problem, as delivery is being completed and as you havent claimed overtime,it hasnt cost them a penny.not only that,as you are leaving the building late and starting your delivery late, your walk is taking less than 3hrs 30 mns to complete.in an ideal world,we wouldnt stream, just take our time, and have massive cut-offs.i would love to do this, but we dont live in an ideal world.the few posties in dundee west who have done this, have in my opinion, been victimisied by management, and i dont think that they have received the support from colleagues that they should have. that is why i feel the best answer is to claim overtime and the savings that management think they have made, will be eating-up by overtime payments

Re: Exec action hits Scotland
Why don't you just work to your time and cut-off for christ sakes, whats the problem? Are you intimidated by management, I'm not? Dundee West is now approaching a disaster area and those in charge are still laughing and joking about it! It beggars belief. I must say, I'm proud of the way the posties have behaved as this was NEVER a militant office, far from it. If Dundee West can do it, any office can - except all the scab Angus offices that work through strikes and are now all totally shafted!!taxi4leighton wrote:the point i was trying to make is this, if you "stream on the street" , what happens ?.you leave your office with a clear frame,as far as management is concerned, your walk isnt a problem, as delivery is being completed and as you havent claimed overtime,it hasnt cost them a penny.not only that,as you are leaving the building late and starting your delivery late, your walk is taking less than 3hrs 30 mns to complete.in an ideal world,we wouldnt stream, just take our time, and have massive cut-offs.i would love to do this, but we dont live in an ideal world.the few posties in dundee west who have done this, have in my opinion, been victimisied by management, and i dont think that they have received the support from colleagues that they should have. that is why i feel the best answer is to claim overtime and the savings that management think they have made, will be eating-up by overtime payments

As of Thursday just passed, Dundee West is now taking part in an official legitamite dispute with Royal Mail over their changes. We need to stick together as one body of members.
Not continously be fragmented and pull in different directions!
If the management see we are fragmented they will use this to their advantage and exploit the situation!
Today was another farce with the last van again withdrawn and numerous members again either cutting off or mass streaming.
If we continue to "do the job properly", the management will be forced to act. I have every faith we can defeat them over this! But we need to be as stubborn and commited to the fight as the twats that run the place!

Taxi4leighton does have an excellent point: It will cost RM far more to pay loads of overtime, than keep the existing Staff. But that would only work, if EVERYONE did the same. What's needed is a UNIFIED strategy.
At the moment, the official strategy, is to do the job properly, and cut off. If some areas do that, other areas claim loads of overtime, to screw up their budgets. And some do neither: We will get picked off one by one. That's why we need to stick together.

Agreed, we need a unified strategy. Where is it ?? Every office has been left to fend for itself. Personally I don't give a feck about their budgets, this is about doing the job. If you cannot complete your delivery on time it is either too long or you are not going fast enough. RM will imply that you're not going fast enough, being the caring employers they are.andy2007 wrote:Taxi4leighton does have an excellent point: It will cost RM far more to pay loads of overtime, than keep the existing Staff. I don't agree with working overtime to complete a delivery as someone else has to cover that delivery when you are on your day off/off sick or on leave, and they may not or cannot work overtime. That person then comes under pressure when they cut-off or stream. I refuse to work overtime on a delivery that cannot be done on time. As far as Dundee West is concerned, there has just been an overwhelming vote in favour of industrial action. In that case nobody (within the union) should be working overtime and everybody should be doing the job properly. Unfortunately some people have no balls and others seek to justify their own actions, for their own financial gain.

ExactlyBELIAL wrote:RM would love everyone to do overtime,it would be their perfect scenario. Overtime would cost them nothing in terms of pension contributions, it would reduce your pension payments and your holiday entitlement. It would be managements idea of paradise to get as many as possible on the shortest hours contracts they could and then watch you all fall over each other scrabbling for extra work to make a living wage; perfectly flexible work force on the cheap. If it did happen ,don't start weeping if volumes drop and the summer lull ever happens, those of you on 1hr contracts would get just that
Unfortunately some people can't see the wood for the trees.

Re: Exec action hits Scotland
the point most of you are missing is this.for the last two weeks most walks in dundee west are getting out late. so if you start your walk at 11.00am , that gives you 3 hours to deliver your mail, if you are off on sat that week, it only gives you 2hours 45 mins .therefore if you take out all your mail and just " stream in the street " a handfull of letters. the RM are happy because their convinced that your walk is easily done in the 3hrs 30 mns timescale. and that is what they are looking for, because they know that eventually they will get you out on the street on time
