Not sure what the union has to do with it,but agree with your other points.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Norbert, the worst drip-drip effect is the endless cases of theft that are going on now, and way too many from posties that have been in the job for years.

Theft is the worst PR job we could ever have.

that was in Dublin , Southern Ireland / Eire - charged by the Garda - and of course nobody steals in the corporate " utopia " , privatized world - if anything there will be probably more thieving and corruption than in the Nationalized Industries - though I do accept that there are some that thinks the world / RM owes them and they have bitter & strange twisted ideas about " entitlement " .

However for all the bent posties , there's even more bent managers and RM like to keep all that under the carpet . I've known one B&H " Investigation " when a " Independent " manager told someone to ignore thieving by friends of a manager . He shopped them to the IB , RM " interviewed " people that they knew didn't like him and he was sacked on trumped up H&B "charges " . A negative blame culture , shoot the messenger , just a little bit arrogant ? .

I've seen one manager who was already under suspicion , a blue bag " mysteriously " " disappeared" from the locker , I'm sure it was all purely coincidence that the manager had a ex wife , new girlfriend and flash car and RM " suddenly " promoted and moved him after the Police were investigating a ram raid . The IB had previously said there was no case to answer :Very Happy .

Then there was the " property speculator " with three houses that suddenly had to " persue another career " after " accounting issues " - You have to look at the " culture " and where it emanates from :hmmmm , the buck has to stop somewhere :hmmmm - you get places that thrive on their own corruption and animal house management which = clones & corruption as ex nationalized industry management are pretending to be private / free market very , very badly :hmmmm

Sorry NT but I've seen it all before , the " spivvy "/" amoral " "problem" was was prevalent in the late 80's / early to mid 90's which shows how backward RM can be , never mind the CWU and the D word .

I expect NT could find examples of theft from TNT, DHL and other private mail companies
if he wanted to.

A ROYAL Mail manager has appeared in court charged with stealing money from the post.

David Paul Baker, aged 46, is accused of stealing £77 from five envelopes and parcels belonging to the Royal Mail on October 3 last year.

He is also charged with opening an item of post on the same day.

Baker, of Rocky Park Road in Plymstock, appeared before Plymouth magistrates.

He did not enter a plea and the case was adjourned until May 7. Baker appeared on a summons and does not have any bail conditions.
Bloody journalists. Of course he didn't enter a plea, his manager hasn't told him what it is yet.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

It is unusual for a manager to have charges brought against him/her.
Usually they are just told to resign. Casuals/Agency staff are also not usually charged,
and sometimes appear in another office, or with a different name.
It's only posties/OPGs who end up in Court.

seen that happen - with the mysterious disappearance of a blue bag from the locker , RM moved & promoted him as the Police were apparently sniffing round re another "security issue" , the IB had already said there was no case to answer :Very Happy

However ! they had a Asian PHG in Crown Court for secreting a blue bag so that's all right then :Very Happy

The harsh reality is that most firms are frightened of a bitter & twisted manager with a big chip on his shoulder taking them to a Industrial Tribunal damaging their corporate image . RM do not like that . Most bullies live in a fantasy world where nobody is allowed to challenge them or stand up to them and they are always right and plenty of noise & excuses too .

Look at that Jermaine Lee case , one area manager that might have had to carry the can took RM to Tribunal for constructive dismissal , it makes it difficult for RM to sweep the sh** under the carpet . At the end of the day , it's sort of military , i.e. you're only a rating , nobody is going to believe you .
