RMail manager charged with theft

A ROYAL Mail manager has appeared in court charged with stealing money from the post.

David Paul Baker, aged 46, is accused of stealing £77 from five envelopes and parcels belonging to the Royal Mail on October 3 last year.

He is also charged with opening an item of post on the same day.

Baker, of Rocky Park Road in Plymstock, appeared before Plymouth magistrates.

He did not enter a plea and the case was adjourned until May 7. Baker appeared on a summons and does not have any bail conditions.

OK - lets not get carried away with blaming managers for "le shrug" as it is known - who amongst us blokes has not used that very same body language, c'mon - the wife says "when are you are doing the garden" - "Le shrug", "when are we going shopping this week?" - "Le shrug" - sooooooo lets not give them too much credit because I think "Le shrug" is universal. The blank faced gormless look - now that is in the training manual.

Don't be too sure,there was one of my managers in the courier last year after he got put away for theft.

probably only prosecuted him as he refused to resign when told to by the IB , as for being dull there's a lot of bad feeling about RM 's double standards , corruption and sweeping the s**t under the carpet , a instuitionally dishonest firm .

One Manager they'd bang to rights ( the coin collector ) - dye , CCTV footage would only plead guilty when they told him it would go to Crown Court and he'd get porridge for pi**ing everyone about .

ANY theft within RM is nowt to laugh at. Public just assume we're a bunch of light-fingered tealeaves. Seems like one case a week and too many are long-serving posties. Just gives government ammo and no one takes the union seriously. Mind you, who did.

more of a case of the drip , drip effect which was prevalent in the 80's ; the private = good public = bad , any little thing , dodgy postman up in front of the beak for jumping out of the park bushes in his mac and frightening Maiden Aunty Joan to death , the local rag gets hold of it , then the nationals put it in as a "novelty" item .

The Union bashing is for having the temerity to oppose privatization and not roll over and die as Postman's & TBT's old pal Mrs White has implied .

Don't get me wrong I have seen old timers frogmarched out of the building , they must have thought they were immune , one hid stuff in a false ceiling in the gents , no prosecution but he had six weeks to do and lost half his pension .
