So, my manager pulls me into the office this morning and presents me with 9 letters that were discovered being recycled through the mail centre without any endorsements.
I endorse ALL my mail correctly everyday and never put loose mail back through the system, so its got me thinking.............
I stood my ground, but my manager informed me an "investigation will be on going"
We have no U.R and our area rep is personal buddies with the manager ( )
THER COULD BE A HUNDRED REASONS WHY THE MAIL WAS RECYCLED.
ITS NOT UP TO YOU FIND OUT WHY
ITS UP TO THEM TO PROVE THAT MAIL WAS WILFULLY DELAYED
BEST TO DENY EVERYTHING
GOOD LUCK
I'm no expert but if I was being investigated then I'd ask for full details of the charges against me, I'd want to know the addresses on the letters and when the MC received them, plus what dates they where posted (there used to be a date stamped onto the back of every letter when it was processed). Also, make sure you take someone into any meeting with you (it doesn't have to be a union rep., it can be anyone from the same unit).

In hindsight, that is what I should have done
Cheers for the info though. Will help if there is a next time.

Don't worry, I've been ambushed by the managers before, been called over for a chat only to have things things thrown at me but my nature is to close up whenever I'm confronted with something out of the ordinary

Anyone been on this ship b4??
That is the worst thing about this job, any one can be innocent victims.I remember the days of second deliveries.
One chap used to do part of my walk,on the second round, and more than once would sneak back and put undelivered
unendorsed mail back in the frame. I got the blame for this more than once, until he was caught red handed. Like yourself, i have always done the job correctly,so stand your ground, honesty usually wins through.
As the previous reply in the days of 2 deliveries i had several test letters fail on my duty and was hauled in to have a "chat" with the Dom who told me I.B were looking into it.
Now I know i never failed on my deliveries and i said i wanted exact dates and times of the failures it turned out i was actually working in the locker covering a P.H.G duty on all the failure dates.
It was those covering me who didnt deliver the letters so do make sure that you get all the information on the mail that has "failed" as you may have been on a rest day and even if you were on your duty as has been previously said there are numerous reasons it could have happened
Same thing happening in my office. It happened on my day off. Another guy had it happen when he was on holiday and others on there das off and always when covered by the same boy and thats not the worst he's done but when you are a pal of the manager you can do anything.

That is most likely the case and as such it should be mentioned but if you have no rep and the area rep is the best mate of the office manager and you do not trust him/her you can take a trusted work college in as a witness then it is two on one as you have a witness should this go to a tribunal. Hope this helps you and good luck.
