ROYAL Mail staff in Gainsborough had a backlog of parcels to contend with last week, which affected delivery across the town.
Staff at the sorting office were unable to deliver a "small number" of parcels on Tuesday 7th April, but all parcels had been moved by the following day, according to a spokesman.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to customers," she said, "Any customer with concerns about the service provided by Royal Mail can contact Royal Mail Customer Services on 08457 740 740."

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I suppose some concerned employee just rings the local rag everyday stuff goes undelivered ? Don't think the public like knowing their stuff is actually gathering dust in their local office.

Maybe we should direct some of the local papers to this site, they could get themselves lots of ideas for stories (albiet most of them anti RM management).

Re: Royal Mail backlog cleared
My office would be in the papers every day. Our drivers have had so much put on their duties that packets are left for up to a week, sometimes longer. Depends if we are due an audit. We usually have at least 2 yorks of packets undelivered every day, which are taken out the following day, leaving that days packets for the next day. What happens, as we all know, is that we get even more in, are they are shunted to the back and 'forgotten' about, until management realise that we are not going to get an easy day, then they get shifted on overtime.
This only ever happened before during Christmas Pressure, but now it happens all the time. The thing is, if we leave a single letter, we could be done for wilful delay, their excuse is operational necessity. Not that they have cut too many hours to meet their budget and get their bonus.

Local papers are often quite grateful to get newsworthy items ,even better if it stirs up a bit of scandal and outrage
