The role of the PEC and the Union as a whole should remain unchanged . Their stated role is to protect and improve the terms and conditions of the membership. Clearly this is not the case.
Time for the SPIRIT of agreements and regulations to be enforced and the Blaaar semantics to be rejected for what they truly are

Well I kind of agree with you, but in this world of new labour and lets redefine the meaning of every written word ,there is no such thing as no wriggle room. But honesty still exists and you know what I mean and If you say it plain enough so does everyone else so the mealy mouths can sod off with their semantics.

PEC - Postal Executive Council - Just for Postal side.Between Conferences, the union's National Executive Council (NEC) is responsible for policy decisions. The NEC is elected each year by individual postal ballot. Its division into five constituencies ensures that all industrial and occupational backgrounds have a voice. The constituencies are clerical, engineering, operator and ancillary, postal and postal technical services.
The NEC deals with all issues of a general nature, such as organisation, recruitment, finances and services. For occupational issues, it divides into two industrial executives, one for telecoms and financial services, and the other for postal issues.

If you look at the booklet with the canidates in at the top of each page it says Postal Constituency National Excutive Council Representatives

Belial do you know how the PEC works and how out of date the procedures for meetings are. In fact do you know besides attending NEC , Pec meetings and various other sub committee meetings what other role they have or should have ??
At the moment on the postal execuitve there are 17 voting members made up of the chair , vice chair , 13 lay memebers and 2 members reserved seats for the ex NCU merger which are for postal engineers or MT staff. The DGSP, and the other 5 assistant secretaries whilst having no vote hold sway at the meetings and are the ones who produce the recommendations. Each PEC member is assigned to an officer and often this allows the officer the ablity to have some votes on the PEC already which is in my opinion in need of reform.
This is why a number of indivudals are calling for a change at not only headquaters level but at all levels to ensure that the postal side of the union which equates to two thirds of the members not only punches it weight but also get a fair share of the unions finance allocation for improved rep training and communications.
