London reps agree timetable for ballot

At a meeting yesterday of all London Dvisonal Branch`s reprsenting over 12000 thousand postal workers within the capital in over 130 different workplaces including deliveries , mail centres , RDCs , network drives and distrubiton staff agreed the timetable put to them by the London Divisonal Reps.

I wont reveal the date on here of the ballot as theres no reason to give Royal Mail anymore than 7 days notice but it will be some time this month.

London are balloting over Royal Mail`s breaking of national agreements and to achieve a national agreement which secures full time employment , no complusory redundancies , making Royal Mail pay for change and a long tem future for deliveries , network , distrubtiuon , RDCs and mail centres.

We know other offices are fighting as well but more offices around the UK are being urged to fight for the future as well.

Before anyone says lets have a national ballot get real as sadly some offices have given up around the country and to turn that around will take time and that is the one thing we havnt got. So every office has a choice as do branch`s do they join the fight or do they hold the coats of those who are willing to fight for them.

Remember this fight is for whole of the union. It`s your choice whether you stand on the sidelines or you join the fight.

Think R/M are in for a fright with this one, as are other companies. i've been speaking to several people
who's own unions are now balloting for strike action, and i believe after reading the C.W.U. rag yesterday,others are
prepared to come out in support.

Borders there is no doubt in my mind that we will get a sizable yes vote. I realise you can only take the members to the well so many times and our members have always backed us in both offical and unofficail in the past.

We are holding meetings in all London offices either at the gate or inside depending if management decide to let us into the office.

We have colour coded every office in London Green is those offices who just needs the normal comms from the Branch and Division and where the local rep can get the members on board. Amber for those which may need area reps to meet the members and Red for those offices which divsional reps will go and meet the members.

We have been meeting with members across London for the last few weeks as have Branch`s. We believe we now have less than 20 offices out of 130 who are in the red zone and we will be meeting them over the next week or two.

As a result of meeting of the delivery reference group in York last week we expect other areas around the Uk to join the fight soon for a national agreement.

I agree, for long periods london was different to the rest of us,thinks work/worked differently, but now, london calls the shots, if it crumbles, the whole uk is paralysed.

borders as far as london taking the lead, Cowdenbeath have already taken strike action with Alloa taking strike action on wed 15th April with other offices in the scotland no2 branch also getting balloted as we speak.

Nae probs borders, I might have guessed u were fae the wrong side o the border I will keep u all up to date, at the moment we are awaiting on some of our bigger offices returning a yes vote and we can co ordinate with the smaller ones.
