Anybody know anything about the candidates for NEC, only one i could vote for with any confidence is Dave Warren since he campained against flexability deal.

Don't quite see the relevance - I voted and campaigned locally, and on the net, as an ordinary member against the Pay and Mod deal but it got voted in by my branch. As long as people vote with their conscience but accept the Democratic decision of the majority anyone should be able to campaign on anything so long as its legal, even if its against the "official" position.

TBT I do think its revlevant when you put yourself up as a leader of the opposition against pay and mod in my opinion you have to carry your branch and Dave didt. Otherwise you could be accused of being opportunist especially when standing for the NEC.

TBT I dont know your positon in the cwu but Dave is not only a NEC member , he is also a divisonal rep as well as a Branch secretary and therefore has to be in tune with the members within his own branch after all he is meant to be reprsentative of his members.

With regards to the NEC elections this is the first year where the North and the South have agreed to drop the geograhical slates which has caused divison within the union for last decade and a lot of Branch`s are recommending the full 13 .

Paul O'Donnell is seeking election to the NEC (Postal Section) I belive this is his first time of of being a PEC nominee. He is also from a parcel branch so his hands are clear of the aggrement from 2007 that so many RMC members detest and are unhappy with the PEC for allowing to go to a vote and recommending that the membership vote yes.

Got to be worth giving a chance to?

If you read his posts you should be able to work out who he is.
He would not be allowed to electioneer on here.
I think he's a good Divisional Rep, and will be voting for him.

Ive already cast my votes with one of them going to the parcel man from London and other 12 votes being determined in part by the political elements of their election addresses.

Not unless he wants to. Remember the rules say not to identify people and to ask members to "reveal" themselves though not against the rules, is against the ethos of RMC.

Irish staff I did not run for the PEC for a number of reasons to many candidates from my divison and because I think its important for my divison to contiue to be united and to fight Royal Mail`s proposal s for our industry. Thats why my divison are balloting for strike action

With regards to revealing who I am I think people in the know can work out who I am by my posts and from where I come from.

In terms of PEC elections I have already voted for the candidates who I believe can serve us well from June this year in what will be a very differcult period both on the politcal side and industrial side.

However in my view in the longer term the role of the PEC and indeed the whole union needs to be changed to ensure that we have a stucture in place which can best serve the membership in the future.

Well said Dingo, You seem to speak for everybody in that qoute.......I hope that means from the Leadership down, but sadly time is not on the side of the membership, so what is the next move to bring this change about to serve the membership?

What do you want/suggest?

I want conference policy carried out when it should be and if it isnt then I want a explanation straight away not nearly two weeks after the deadline!

I want to find out whats going on through offical channels, not rely on peole such as dingo taking the time to post on RMC whats going on. RMC should not be used by HQ as a subsitution for proper communcation, as that what seems to happen at times, it should compliment proper communcations from CWU HQ!
