Royal Mail staff help youngsters deliver special garden

A garden project at a Sheffield nursery is growing fast after two days of hard work by volunteers.

Staff from Royal Mail worked with youngsters from the Broomhall Nursery School and Children's Centre on their plans to create a sensory garden.

The long-term scheme has also involved parents, local residents and groups who regularly use the centre as a base.

The idea is to make the most of extensive outdoor garden and play space around the nursery which has previously been neglected.

Royal Mail workers came to help as part of the Business in the Community Partnership to work on the sensory garden.

They created areas to plant and grow, places to explore and spaces to sit and enjoy the natural environment.

Headteacher Gill Peacock said children, parents and staff were grateful for the help and support given by the volunteers.

She said: "We all look forward to enjoying the new areas of our garden and know our children will learn even more about their natural environment."
